Workers' conference held at Harintana police station

The upcoming election should be an election of national unity inspired by the spirit of August 5

-Professor Mia Golam Porwar

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's Secretary General and former MP Professor Mia Golam Porwar said that the people of Bangladesh do not want to see another election like 2014, 2018 and 2019. The interim government is preparing for a free, fair and acceptable election by reforming all relevant state organs including the police and civil administration. The next election should be held after cleaning up all the garbage of the past 15 years. In addition, those who have committed looting, disappearances, murders, corruption and irregularities in the past one and a half decades should be tried in a tribunal.

He said all these things as the chief guest in his speech at the workers' conference of Arafat Nagar Unit Jamaat-e-Islami under Harintana police station adjacent to Khulna city on Tuesday (February 4) afternoon.

Under the chairmanship of Harintana Police Station Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Abdul Gafur and jointly hosted by Secretary Advocate B. M. Monirul Islam and Amir Hossain, Khulna District Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary Munshi Mizanur Rahman, Assistant Secretary Professor Mia Golam Quddus, Khulna city President of Bangladesh Sramik Kollan Federation Azizul Islam Farazi and Dumuria Upazila Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Maulana Moktar Hossain were special guests. Among others, Sonadanga Police Station Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary Zahidur Rahman Naeem, Ward No. 18 Ameer Mashiur Rahman Ramzan, labor leader Kazi Mahfuzur Rahman, Jamaat leader Sakhawat Hossain Likhon, prominent businessman Matiur Rahman, Dr. Fazlur Rahman, Dr. Md. Ismail Hossain, Mohammad Shahidul Alam, Maulana Afzal Hossain, and Redwan Ullah Ibrahim spoke on the occasion.

Professor Mia Golam Porwar further said that the next election should be an election of national unity inspired by the spirit of August 5. Through that election, a peaceful, economically prosperous welfare state should be established. He said, in the 53 years of independence, we have seen many regimes. Therefore, this time's slogan will be 'All parties have been observed and it is time for Jamaat-e-Islami now. He called upon everyone to get involved with Jamaat-e-Islami in building a welfare state and a just society.

The Secretary General further said that we are indebted to all the Jamaat leaders who had been killed in the name of alleged crimes against humanity. Their debt must be paid. Therefore, that trial must take place. Jamaat leaders have been hanged in a judicial coup. Those involved in that judicial coup must be brought to justice. He said, the people of Bangladesh will never accept fascism. We all want to move on the basis of consensus. Those who are taking some benefits may not agree with us. We want elections in a democratic way, and it must be fair and proper. We want to form a government in Bangladesh in a systematic manner. The previous fascist government has destroyed all the rights of the people; freedom of speech, democratic rights, constitutional rights, freedom of the media, economic, social, political, educational, religious values. The people of Bangladesh could not vote in 2014, 2018 and 2019. The people of this country will not allow such elections to be held again. The fascist accomplices are still working everywhere even within the administration. They must be removed and brought to justice.

Professor Mia Golam Parwar said that in the context of Sheikh Hasina's violent politics, Bangladesh lost its way on October 28, 2006. Later, the country found its way through the bloody movement of the students. But the goal is still far away. National unity is needed to build the country. He called on the field level leaders of Jamaat to work relentlessly for building national unity.

Special guest Munshi Mizanur Rahman said that only Jamaat-e-Islami should be sent to state power to build a country free from discrimination, drugs, terrorism and corruption. Those who wanted to wipe out Jamaat have been thrown into the dustbin. Therefore, the people will also reject those who are involved in murder, looting, corruption and irregularities in the future.
