Dhaka south city Jamaat holds leadership conference ahead of 1st August’s rally

Jamaat is continuing movement to ensure voting rights of the people, claims Dr. Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Nayeb-e-Ameer and former MP Dr. Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher said, the rally which is scheduled to be held on 1st August is being organized to establish the just rights of the citizens. The countrymen are convinced that free, fair and credible election is not possible under the Awami League regime. But the authority is mulling to hold another farcical election next time. But the situation is completely different in comparison of 2014 and 2018. The only solution of the existing political stalemate is to dissolve the parliament and to establish a caretaker government. The countrymen will get their preferable representatives through a fair election. People will get back their rights. If the government is trying to hold another voter less election, then the government will lose its existence. Situation is not under their control. So, the authority should not make any delay and hand over the power to a neutral government. Otherwise, the people will make them compelled to leave office.

Dr. Taher said this while addressing a leadership conference organized by Dhaka south city Jamaat as part of its preparation ahead of 1st August’s rally. Central Executive Committee member and Dhaka south city Ameer Nurul Islam Bulbul presided over the program which was hosted by Jamaat’s central working committee member and Dhaka south city secretary Dr. Shafiqul Islam Masud. Among others, Jamaat’s central Majlish-e-Shura member and Dhaka south city’s assistant secretary Dr. Abdul Mannan and Islami Chhatrashibir’s Secretary General Monjurul Islam addressed the program. Jamaat’s central Majlish-e-Shura member and Dhaka south city’s Nayeb-e-Ameer Abdus Sabur Fakir and Advocate Dr. Helal Uddin, central Majlish-e-Shura member and Dhaka south city’s Assistant Secretary Delwar Hossain, Kamal Hossain, central Majlish-e-Shura member and Dhaka south city’s working committee member Professor Mokarram Hossain, Maulana Abu Sadik, Engineer Sheikh Al Amin, Dr. Mobarak Hossain and others were also present on the occasion.

Dr. Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher also stated that, Jamaat is working to secure people’s voting rights. This movement is an effort to return citizen’s rights back to them. The movement is being carried out for establishing a caretaker government in order to ensure a free, fair and credible election. We want to organize 1st August’s rally in the north gate of Baitul Mukarram peacefully. It is the obligation of the state to provide us assistance in holding that rally. Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami had representatives in most of the previous parliaments. Jamaat will not change its position due to the threats or verbal warning of any individual. We had organized such rally in the north gate of Bautul Mukarram earlier many times and those were very peaceful. We do not want anarchy.

Nurul Islam Bulbul said we want to arrange a peaceful program. We have arranged a grand rally a month before and demonstrated our stand for peace and discipline. We are expecting that the government will cooperate this time as well. To free the people, the collapse of this government is inevitable. He urged all manpower to join the rally massively and sought the assistance of the people of all walks to make the program successful.
