Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former Member of Parliament Professor Mia Golam Porwar expressed deep condolences on 23 August at the passing away of eminent journalist and former editor of the Daily Naya Diganta, Almagir Mohiuddin.

In his condolence message, he said, “Late Almagir Mohiuddin was an undisputed senior journalist. His contribution to objective journalism is undeniable. He struggled throughout his life for the establishment of democracy, freedom of speech, and human rights. With his demise, the nation has lost a distinguished journalist.

I express my profound grief at his passing and pray for the forgiveness of his soul. At the same time, I extend my deepest sympathy to his bereaved family members and colleagues.”
