Jamaat Ameer expresses deep condolences on the demise of Dr. Ahmad Omar Hashem (Rahimahullah), an eminent Professor of Al-Azhar University

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has expressed deep sorrow and condolence at the passing of Dr. Ahmad Omar Hashem (Rahimahullah), an eminent professor of the Faculty of Usul al-Din at Al-Azhar University in Egypt and a distinguished scholar of Hadith. He issued the condolence message on October 8.

In his message, he said that Dr. Ahmad Omar Hashem (Rahimahullah), an eminent professor of the Faculty of Usul al-Din at Al-Azhar University, a renowned scholar of Hadith, member of the Senior Scholars Council of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, and former Wakil al-Azhar, passed away in the early hours of Tuesday (7 October). Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi rajiun.

He further said that Dr. Ahmad Omar Hashem (Rahimahullah) served as a teacher and held important administrative responsibilities at Al-Azhar University as well as at various Arab and Islamic universities. In 1995, he was appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of Al-Azhar University. He was also a member of the Islamic Research Academy, the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, and both parliamentary councils of Egypt—Majlis al-Sha‘b and Majlis al-Shura. Through his wide-ranging research and writings on Sunnah and Hadith, he enriched the treasury of Islamic knowledge. I express my profound grief on his demise.

He added, Dr. Ahmad Omar Hashem (Rahimahullah) was a spiritual guide for scholars and the Muslim community. For his lifelong service to Islamic knowledge, the Muslim Ummah will remember him with reverence for generations to come. May Allah Almighty forgive him, shower His mercy upon him, expand his grave, pardon all his sins, and turn them into virtues. May Allah, the Lord of the Worlds, grant him the highest rank in Jannah, Ameen.

I extend my heartfelt sympathy and condolences to his bereaved family members, relatives, well-wishers, colleagues, and students.
