Veteran leader Maulana Rafiuddin Ahmad dies; Jamaat Ameer and Secretary General express condolence

Former member of the Central Executive Council of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former Ameer of the greater Faridpur and Noakhali districts, Maulana Rafiuddin Ahmad has passed away at the age of 82 due to old age-related complications while under medical care. He breathed his last on July 6 at 9:30 AM (Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilayhi Raji'un).

He is survived by his wife, four sons, two daughters, and numerous relatives and well-wishers.

The first Namaj-e-Janaja of Maulana Rafiuddin Ahmad was held on July 6 after Asr at the Chan Jame Masjid adjacent to the central office of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, and the second Namaj-e-Janajah (funeral prayer) will be held at 9:00 AM on July 7 at his village home in Companiganj Upazila, Noakhali District. Then he will be buried at the family graveyard.

Condolence Message

In a joint condolence message issued on July 6, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, and party’s Secretary General and former MP Professor Mia Golam Porwar expressed deep sorrow over the demise of Maulana Rafiuddin Ahmad.

They said: “Maulana Rafi Uddin Ahmad was a distinguished organizer. Through his organizational skills and tireless efforts, he played a key role in establishing a strong foundation for the Islamic movement in the greater Noakhali and Faridpur regions. From his youth, he was deeply engaged with the Qur'an and the Islamic movement, taking on significant responsibilities at various levels of the organization.”

“During challenging times for the organization, he contributed immensely as a respected member of the Central Executive Council, using his vast experience to support and strengthen the movement. We are profoundly saddened and shocked by his passing.”

They further prayed “May Allah (SWT) forgive him, shower His mercy upon him, and expand his grave. May He turn his sins into good deeds, grant him the help of the angels of mercy, and grant him peace in Barzakh and in Jannah. May Allah accept him among His beloved servants and grant him the highest ranks in Paradise. Ameen.”

“We also pray for his family, May Allah grants patience and strength (sabr-e-jameel) to the bereaved family members, relatives, and colleagues. Ameen.”
