Jamaat Secretary General reacts to the untrue speech of the Prime Minister; urges all to stop blame game politics

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Secretary General Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has issued the following statement on 5th January, 2017 protesting the untrue remark of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina which she has made while speaking in a video conference from Ganabhaban on last 4th January blaming Jamaat-e-Islami for the murder of Gaibandha-1 constituency’s Awami League lawmaker Monjurul Islam Liton.

“Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has no involvement with the murder of Gaibandha-1 constituency’s Awami League lawmaker Monjurul Islam Liton. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has made a politically motivated speech blaming Jamaat-e-Islami for this murder, but her comment is completely baseless. Prior to investigation and without evidences, any such comment is painful. The nation is observing the tendency of the government high ups of blaming Jamaat-e-Islami immediate after an ill incident is taken place.

Replying to her speeches, I want to assert that Jamaat and Chhatrashibir do not believe in the politics of murder. From a responsible position, when the Prime Minister starts blame game, it indicates that prime target of such campaign is to hamper the investigation and trial procedure, to cause damage to the opponents and most of all to conceal the real killers. If such trend continues, terrorism would never be wiped out; rather terrorists would be inspired and the victims would not get justices ultimately.

It becomes the most crucial question, if murdered lawmaker Monjurul Islam Liton were a political tool of Awami League for destroying Jamaat and Chhatrashibir, whom had he taken with him while entering into his drawing room? Why the family members of Liton are expressing their objection about the blame game of ruling party leaders against Jamaat-e-Islami? Why his houses became suddenly solitary on that day? Why the eye witnesses are making contradictory speeches?

We believe that if the investigation is made properly, it would reveal the real killers and like the all previous occasions, the blame game of Awami League leaders against Jamaat-e-Islami would be proved false as well Insha Allah. Under this backdrop, we are calling upon the leaders of Awami League to make political influence and untoward interference into this incident. I am also urging them to stop blame game against Jamaat-e-Islami.
