Acting Ameer remembers the contributions of former Ameer Shaheed Maulana Nizami

-Professor Mujibur Rahman

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Acting Ameer and former lawmaker Professor Mujibur Rahman has issued the following statement on 9th May 2023 remembering the contributions of the Jamaat-e-Islami’s former Ameer, world-renowned religious scholar, former minister, and former member of Parliament Shaheed Maulana Matiur Rahman Nizami.

“Shaheed Maulana Matiur Rahman Nizami is a known figure to the people of this country. He was a religious scholar and Islamic thinker. Honesty, quality, humbleness, and generosity have elevated him to an extraordinary position.

Since his youth, based on his quality he led his contemporaries in various aspects. From the onset of his student life, he was involved with preaching Islamic ideology and establishing the Islamic movement. As a politician, he has struggled for the betterment of the people. He also worked hard for establishing a just society. He also played a pivotal role in establishing democracy, the rule of law, justice, and human rights in Bangladesh.

He was elected a member of parliament in 1991 and 2001 from his constituency. The countrymen will remember his constructive role inside the parliament. His speeches on several parliamentary speeches were constructive. He also played a significant role in circulating Islamic education. He made a distinctive role in attaining the government’s recognition of Qawmi Madrasa.

He discharged his duties as Agriculture and Industry Minister with honesty, quality, and sincerity. His sincere and effective roles have turned the Industrial sector into a profitable sector.

He had a wider acceptance in the international arena. He was included in the list of the world’s 500 top influentials, published in Jordan. In another survey in 2009, he was considered among one of the 50 top Muslim figures in the world.

He has authored lots of important books which will continue to guide people in self-building, and also in the positive modification of the family and society. He also addressed various meetings, workshops, and seminars which created a vibe in the intellectual field of the people. He was hanged at 00:10 am on 11th May 2016.

I am remembering the contributions of former Ameer-e-Jamaat Maulana Matiur Rahman Nizami with great honor and respect. May Allah accept his martyrdom and place him in Jannah.

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has been playing an uncompromised role on all occasions against misrule, injustice, falsehood, and corruption. Jamaat has been struggling to ensure the voting rights of the people too. This is why, Jamaat leaders had to be the victims of the government’s conspiracy and repression. Our martyred leaders did not compromise and bow down before the heinous plot of the government. If their conspiracies were resisted through a combined effort in those days, we could avoid the ongoing suffering.

I am urging my fellow countrymen to boost up the movement for securing voting rights and also for establishing a just society in a bid to accomplish the unfinished tasks of Shaheed Maulana Matiur Rahman Nizami.
