Acting Ameer greets the countrymen on the eve of Victory Day on 16th December

Acting Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former lawmaker Professor Mujibur Rahman has issued the following statement on 14th December 2022 marking the Glorious Victory Day on next 16th December.

“Our Victory Day is going to be observed on next 16th of December. This day is highly significant from the perspective of our national lives. I am recalling the outstanding contribution of those valiant heroes, who had sacrificed their lives for the country. I am praying for the salvation of their departed souls. I would like to express my deep gratitude and respect to the freedom fighters who participated in the country’s liberation war.

The nation is going to observe glorious Victory Day at a very crucial moment. The nation has already lost democracy, the best output of independence and the society is moving towards an uncertain destiny. There is no democracy or rule of law. Misrule has engulfed the whole nation. Public lives and properties are not secured. Local and international stakeholders are expressing deep concern over the human rights situation of the country.

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman and opposition leaders and activists have been arrested and they are being harassed. Religious scholars, writers, intellectuals, academicians, and professionals are not spared from this repression. The people will be able to enjoy the real taste of independence when a welfare state will be established on the basis of Islamic values and norms.

I am urging all wings and front organizations of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami to observe Victory Day by holding discussions and prayer programs. Besides, I am extending my greetings to my fellow citizens and praying for their peace, prosperity, and happiness on the occasion of Victory Day.
