Matiur Rahman Akanda dismisses the false report of Daily Janakantha against Jamaat-e-Islami

Central Executive Committee member of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and party’s central Publicity Secretary Matiur Rahman Akanda has issued the following statement on 16 July 2020 protesting and gainsaying a report, published in the last page of Bengali daily ‘Janakantha’ titled "বিএনপি-জামায়াতের পাণ্ডা আজম খান নারী পাচারের হোতা" (BNP-Jamaat’s cadre Azam Khan is the mastermind of women trafficking).

In the edition of 16th July, 2020, Bengali Daily ‘Janakantha’ published the aforesaid report implicating Jamaat-e-Islami. The entire contents and claims of the report are false. Jamaat has no connection with the person they referred. The reporter tried to discover some connection based on some fictitious information. But the report has finally failed to clarify alleged connection between one Azam Khan and Jamaat-e-Islami.

Jamaat-e-Islami believes in transparent politics. It is an ideological organization. No leader or activist of this party was involved with the incident of women trafficking ever. This false and fictitious report has been prepared and published in order to tarnish the good image of Jamaat-e-Islami and also to create confusion among the people.

I am urging the authority of Daily Janakantha to be refrained from publishing such baseless and fictitious report against Jamaat-e-Islami in future.
