Jamaat Ameer recalls the contribution of Shaeed Abdul Quader Molla for the Islamic movement

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has issued the following statement on 11 December 2019 recalling the contribution of Jamaat’s former Assistant Secretary General, noted journalist and intellectual Shaheed Abdul Quader Molla.

“The incumbent authoritarian oppressor government has executed Jamaat’s former Assistant Secretary General, noted journalist and intellectual Shaheed Abdul Quader Molla through a deep-rooted conspiracy on 12 December of 2013. The government has hanged him to death in line with a false and concocted case. Entire process of this execution became questionable and raised controversies both in home and abroad. The trial procedure was not acceptable to anybody as well.

He was totally innocent. He has been unjustifiably executed just because of his position in Jamaat-e-Islami. Initially, the tribunal awarded him with life-term imprisonment. But then, the government sponsored a so-called movement titled ‘Gono Jagoron Mancha’ and staged a new drama in Shahbag of the capital. Subsequently, as per the demand of this platform, the government amended the relevant law to execute this veteran leader.

Abdul Quader Molla filed a review petition in the appellate division against the death penalty but the court rejected it. Shaheed Abdul Quader Molla was executed in a hurry even before the disclosure of the full verdict of this review plea by the Appellate Division. So, he even could not know why did the apex court reject his review plea. As such, it has been proved that, Shaheed Abdul Quader Molla had been deprived from getting minimum justice.

Practically, the government executed him on some political grounds. Though he did not receive justice in this world, but by the will of Almighty Allah, he will get justice in the hereafter. The people, who executed him through a blue-print conspiracy, will not be spared on the day of Judgment. On the contrary, the men who sacrificed their lives to achieve success in the world hereafter, they are successful indeed.

Prior to his execution, Shaheed Abdul Quader Molla said that, “the government is going to execute me unjustifiably. Every drop of my blood will inspire the leaders and activists of the Islamic movement.” He also urged the people of the Islamic movement to take the revenge of his execution by establishing the Islamic rule of law.

I am remembering his glorious contribution for the Islamic movement with highest honor. I am praying for the acceptance of his martyrdom. In addition, I am urging the leaders and activists, well-wishers, and the supporters of Jamaat-e-Islami and drawing the attention of my fellow countrymen to implement his dream of establishing Islamic society courageously and sincerely.
