Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Maqbul Ahmad and party’s Secretary General Dr. Shafiqur Rahman jointly issued the following statement on 15th May, 2017 declaring nationwide peaceful demonstration on 16th May, Tuesday as the review plea of world renowned scholar of the holy Quran and one of the top leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami Allama Delwar Hossain Sayedee has been dismissed.
“The government has deprived Allama Delwar Hossain Sayedee from justice by arranging his lifer-term imprisonment in a concocted and false case. Allama Sayedee has filed a review plea seeking acquittal from all the false charges. The countrymen expected that he would get justice and would be freed from jail. But again, he has been deprived from justice as his review plea is dismissed.
He has been given life term imprisonment for murdering a person of Pirojpur district namely Bishabali. But no question can be emanated of his involvement with this murder. Bishabali’s brother Shukhranjan Bali was abducted from the court premise in a planned way when he had gone there to place testimony as defence witness. Thus Shukhranjan Bali had been deprived from his rights to appear as defence witness. If he was allowed to give witness, the real information of this murder would be unearthed and so as Allama Sayedee would be acquitted.
Though several prosecution designed personnel were appeared as the witness but surprisingly none from the Bishabali’s family was produced as witness. It was an erroneous effort to conceal the real fact of the case. This incident proved that, the government has deprived Allama Sayedee from justice in order to attain their ill political interest.
Allama Delwar Hossain Sayedee has become the worst victim of government’s conspiracy. On behalf of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, we are declaring nationwide peaceful demonstration on 16th May, Tuesday demanding immediate release of Allama Sayedee.
I am urging all the units of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and seeking the assistance of the countrymen to make the declared program successful.”
