Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and Head of the Central Media and Propagation Department Advocate Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair on 20 October, 2025 issued a statement strongly condemning and protesting the attack by BNP activists on a Holy Qur'an lesson gathering organized by Islami Chhatrashibir in Noakhali district.

In the statement he said, “On 19 October, at the Kashem Bazar Jame Mosque in Newajpur Union of the Sadar Upazila of Noakhali district, a Quran lesson gathering organized by Islami Chhatrashibir was attacked by a group of miscreants from BNP, Jubo Dal and Chhatra Dal led by Jubo Dal president Faruk. More than fifty people were injured in the incident and several motorcycles were vandalized. I strongly condemn and protest this attack. This incident has clearly revealed the anti-Islam character of BNP, Jubo Dal and Chhatra Dal.”

He further said that teaching the Holy Qur'an is obligatory for every Muslim. The teachings of the Qur'an guide people in principles, ethics and humanity. Religion shows people the path of truth, beauty and peace. Therefore, acquiring the knowledge of the Holy Qur'an is a fundamental duty of every Muslim. An attack on such a great religious educational gathering is a direct assault on Islam and on humanity.

He said the attack on Islami Chhatrashibir’s peaceful Holy Qur'an lesson gathering is deeply worrisome. He demanded that the relevant authorities conduct a free, fair and impartial investigation, bring the guilty to justice under the law, and impose exemplary punishment so that no one dares to obstruct religious programs or efforts to teach the Qur'an in the future.
