On behalf of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, party leaders and activists collected the Daripalla (Balance Scale) electoral symbol from the Election Commission for the Dhaka-15 constituency.
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Assistant Secretary General and Head of party’s Central Publicity and Media Department, Advocate Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair, said that, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, will contest the 13th National Parliamentary Election from the Dhaka-15 constituency. Today, the Election Commission allocated the Daripalla (Balance Scale) symbol in the name of Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, and Central Executive Council Member of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Mr. Mobarak Hossain, received the very symbol from the Commission on behalf of Jamaat Ameer.
Advocate Zubair made these remarks at a briefing today, Wednesday, 21 January, at Agargaon in the capital, after the allocation of the symbol to the Jamaat Ameer. Dhaka-15 Constituency coordinator Abdur Rahman Musa, Member Secretary Mr. Tuhin, Vice President of Bangladesh Sramik Kalyan Federation Mr. Laskar Md. Taslim, along with leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami were present at that time.
Advocate Zubair said that Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Central Executive Council Member Mr. Mobarak Hossain was supposed to contest on behalf of Jamaat from the Dhaka-13 constituency, but due to the ten-party electoral alliance, he withdrew in favor of the Honorable Ameer of Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish Mamunul Haque.
He further said, “We are hopeful that the election to be held on 12 February will be a very important one. Candidates will participate in the 13th National Parliamentary Election. At the same time, through this election, the reform proposal that has been developed over a long period will gain a legal foundation through a referendum, and that will be victorious through a ‘Yes’ vote, Insha’Allah.”
He said, “We call upon the people of the country and our expatriate brothers and sisters to move forward through the election on 12 February with the goal of building a beautiful, safe, and humane Bangladesh. We hope that this election will be held in a fair and peaceful manner, free from terrorism and fear, Insha’Allah. Although terrorists have attacked and injured our leaders and activists in various places, as you know, just yesterday there was an incident of a terrorist attack in the Dhaka-15 constituency as well.”
He added, “We have informed the Election Commission and the Returning Officer, and we hope that such incidents will not occur in the future. In this regard, we urge the law enforcement agencies and the Election Commission, as well as those responsible on the ground, to give due importance to these issues and take appropriate measures. We expect that the people of the country will be able to participate in the National Parliamentary Election in a peaceful, fearless, and terrorism-free environment.”
He said, “In the elections of 2014, 2018, and 2024, the people of this country could not participate. To ensure a beautiful and fair election, creating a level playing field, arresting identified terrorists, recovering illegal weapons, and ensuring the security of all those participating in the election—especially the Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, our top leaders, and the people of the country—are crucial. We therefore call upon the Election Commission and those involved with the interim government to ensure adequate security for all.”
