Courtesy meeting held between Jamaat Ameer and the EU Election Observation Mission's Chief Observer Ivars Ijabs

On 12 January (Monday) at 12:00 noon, a three-member delegation led by the Chief Observer of the European Union (EU) Election Observation Mission and Member of the European Parliament, Ivars Ijabs paid a courtesy call on Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman at his office in Bashundhara. The meeting was held in a very cordial and friendly atmosphere.

During the meeting, they discussed various issues of mutual interest between Bangladesh and the European Union. In particular, it was stated in the meeting that Bangladesh and the European Union would work closely together to ensure the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election free, fair, and acceptable. They also expressed their views on further strengthening and making all constitutional and democratic institutions of Bangladesh more sustainable.

The European Union further assured that a 200-member delegation of the Union would work to observe the upcoming National Parliamentary Election in Bangladesh. They expressed hope that the bilateral relationship, development, and progress between the European Union and Bangladesh would continue in the future.

Assistant Secretary General of Jamaat-e-Islami and Head of the Central Publicity and Media Department, Advocate Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair, educationist Dr. Zubair Ahmed, Development Team Lead Mr. Dewan Alamgir, and Jamaat Ameer’s Adviser on Foreign Affairs Professor Dr. Mahmudul Hasan accompanied Jamaat Ameer at that time.
