Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman expressed his firm determination that if Jamaat comes to power, it will ensure the rights of all citizens regardless of religion, race, caste, or gender, and gift the nation a just and equitable new Bangladesh.
He made these remarks yesterday, 25 November, at 8:00 PM while delivering address at a citizens’ gathering organized by the Professional Council of Dhaka City North Jamaat at Ruposhi Pro-Active Village, Mirpur.
The gathering was presided over by Engineer Kazi Abid Hasan Siddiq, Convener of the Professional Council of Dhaka City North, and moderated by Engineer Sirajul Islam, Secretary of Engineers Forum Dhaka City North. Special guests included Assistant Secretary of Dhaka City North, Dr. Fakhruddin Manik, and Central Vice-President of Sramik Kollan Federation Lasker Mohammad Taslim.
Among others, Assistant Director of the Professional Zone Ziaul Hasan, Assistant Director of Kafrul Zone Md. Shahidullah, Member Secretary of Dhaka-15 and Ameer of Mirpur East Thana Shah Alam Tuhin, Ameer of Kafrul South Thana Anwarul Karim, Ameer of Medical Technologists Thana Sohel Rana, Ameer of Literature-Culture Thana Abedur Rahman, President of Jamaat’s Dhaka City West Branch Hafiz Abu Taher, President of Private University West Branch Rezaul Karim, Ameer of Kafrul North Thana Rezaul Karim Mahmud, Acting Ameer of Kafrul West Thana Atik Hasan Raihan, President of Ideal Teachers’ Council Professor Kamal Uddin, Vice-President of the Business Division Abdullah Al Mahmud, Engineer Muhammad Ismail, Dr. Hasanul Banna, Jasim Uddin, Hafiz Ashiqur Rahman, Abu Nahid, and Mufti Masudur Rahman, were present on the occasion.
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said that Jamaat has long been struggling to transform the country into an Islamic welfare state. If elected through the people’s vote, everyone, regardless of gender, will have the opportunity to serve in national responsibilities according to their skills and needs. Women will be ensured full safety and respect both at home and in workplaces. Nothing will be imposed on anyone by force; rather, every citizen will be guaranteed their fundamental and constitutional rights.
He emphasized that the goal is to establish a Bangladesh free of corruption, plunder, extortion, and decay. Instead, Jamaat aims to build a humane state free from hunger and poverty. To realize this vision of Bangladesh, he urged everyone to work unitedly to ensure victory in the upcoming election.
He further stated that although 54 years have passed since independence, the country has not been built as desired due to moral decay and the lack of ethical values. Those who have been in power at various times have sought to change their own fortunes rather than improve the fate of the people. However, if elected, the education and fragile healthcare systems will be restructured, ensuring employment for all based on merit. From birth, every child will be nurtured as a good citizen through proper healthcare and quality education.
He expressed his determination to bring radical changes to the economy and declare a comprehensive war against corruption. The fight against corruption will continue until it is reduced to zero. Addressing issues in Dhaka-15, the Ameer said that if elected, Jamaat will remove the shadow of terrorism from the area and take effective measures to keep drains clean and restore comfort to public life.
Addressing the youth, Dr. Shafiqur said, “We want to develop you as skilled and capable individuals to face the challenges of the 21st century, and we envision a beautiful country built by you.” He called upon the youth to work unitedly to realize that vision.
