Muslim world must be united to liberate Palestine, asserts Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan

Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan said that Netanyahu has proved the Jewish nation as the despicable people before the world. He said no civilized nation can obstruct food and medical aid. By attacking the aid ship in the Global Sumud Flotilla in Gaza, and by carrying out assaults and by arresting human rights activists from around the world, Israel has not only violated human rights but has also presented itself as a inhuman nation.

He said this while speaking as the chief guest at a protest rally held after Friday (03 October) prayers — organized jointly by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Dhaka City North and South units. The rally started from the north gate of the national mosque Baitul Mukarram and ended with a gathering. On that occasion he demanded release of the human rights activists, detained from the Global Sumud Flotilla, and said that the food and medical supplies seized from the captured ship must be distributed among the people of Gaza.

Rafiqul Islam Khan said Israel is gleefully playing with the blood of Muslims. Muslims are sacrificing their lives and blood but they will never be defeated. He said the struggle will continue until Palestine is liberated. He also called upon the Muslim world to unite and build resistance against the occupying state of Israel. Demanding the arrest of the war criminal Netanyahu, Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan said Netanyahu is a despicable head of state, in the history of human civilization. By flouting all international laws and killing civilian women and children in Gaza, Netanyahu has committed extreme crimes against humanity. He must be arrested immediately and given strict punishment. The international community must take effective steps to establish an independent Palestine.

The protest rally was presided over by Dhaka North City Jamaat Ameer and party’s central Executive Council member Mohammad Selim Uddin. Assistant Secretary General Maulana Abdul Halim spoke at the event. He strongly denounced and condemned the attack on the aid ship Global Sumud Flotilla, the assaults, and the arrest of international human rights activists. He warned that if the United Nations does not take effective measures over this shameful incident, Jamaat-e-Islami will be compelled to march toward Gaza. Questioning how Netanyahu can participate in various global events even after an international arrest warrant is issued against him as a war criminal, Abdul Halim said those who speak of humanity and democracy have provided shelter and support for Netanyahu to carry out genocide in Gaza. If world leaders do not take effective steps to stop this genocide, history will not forgive anyone.

The protest rally was hosted by Dhaka South City Jamaat's Nayeb-e-Ameer and central working committee member Advocate Dr. Helal Uddin. Among others, Jamaat's central Majlish-e-shura member and Dhaka South City Jamaat's assistant secretary Muhammad Kamal Hossain, Dr. Abdul Mannan; Md. Shamsur Rahman; Jamaat's central Majlish-e-Shura member and Dhaka North City Jamaat's Assistant secretary Mahfuzur Rahman, Dr. Fakhruddin Manik; and South City Jamaat's working council members Abdus Salam, Maulana Mosharraf Hossain, Dr. Atiar Rahman, Syed Zainul Abedin, Kamrul Ahsan Hasan, Maulana Shariful Islam and other leaders of Dhaka City North and South attended the event. Thousands of religious devotees, who had attended Juma prayers at Baitul Mukarram Mosque also joined the procession.

In his address, Mohammad Selim Uddin said that because of the betrayal of so-called leaders of Muslim states, Netanyahu is conducting an inhuman, brutal genocide against Palestine. He said that if the Muslim world declared jihad, Palestine would be free within a week and Israel would be destroyed. He urged the OIC to take effective measures, otherwise a separate alliance of Muslim states would be formed. At this time he appealed to Dr. Yunus, Chief Advisor of the Interim Government, saying: you are an acceptable and credible person in the world forum. Take the initiative on behalf of Bangladesh to unite the 57 Muslim countries to liberate Palestine. If Muslim states unite under your leadership and Palestine is freed, your name will be written in golden letters in world history. Humanity will remember you with respect forever.

After the rally, a massive protest march set off from the north gate of Baitul Mukarram Mosque, passed Bijoynagar–Kakrail and ended at the Shantinagar roundabout. Thousands of people joined the procession to protest Israel’s attack on the aid ship Global Sumud Flotilla, the assaults, and the arrest of international human rights activists.
