Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's Secretary General and former Member of Parliament Professor Mia Golam Porwar said that a possibility of unity has emerged through the coordination of all Islamic and patriotic like-minded parties. In a post-August 5 revolution time, everyone must be united on the basis of the July Declaration to build a new Bangladesh. In the new Bangladesh, there will be no more interest, bribery, corruption, irregularities, injustice, oppression, tyranny, torture, enforced disappearances, and killings as in the past. The country will be one of equality, unity, justice, and fairness. In the new Bangladesh, Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists, Christians—everyone will enjoy equal state rights based on justice.
He further said that the past fascist government carried out unspeakable persecution and repression against the scholars and clerics of this country. Thousands of scholars from Jamaat, Hefazat, and Charmonai—including Allama Delwar Hossain Sayedee, Maulana Mamunul Haque, Maulana Junaid Al Habib, and Maulana Rafiqul Islam Madani—were imprisoned for years without any crime and subjected to mental and physical torture. The only reason for this persecution of the scholars was because they spoke out against the subservient government and Indian dominance. Now the time has come for scholars to unite and put an end to oppression and persecution in the country. Therefore, in the upcoming elections, scholars and patriotic people must be united and vote for the symbol of justice and fairness—the “scales”—to bring about a permanent end to subservience and hegemonic powers in this country.
He said these things on Saturday (September 13) as the chief guest while addressing separate voter gatherings during a day-long public contact campaign in the Sadar Union of Dumuria Upazila under Khulna-5 constituency.
At 8 AM in the morning, a meeting was held at Khalshi Government Primary School field, while at 5 PM in the afternoon, another program was held at Dumuria Majidia Senior Madrasa field. Presided over by Sadar Union Jamaat Ameer Abdul Gani Khan, the special guests were Khulna district Ameer Maulana Emran Hossain, Assistant Secretary Munshi Moinul Islam, Professor Mia Golam Quddus, district executive committee member Advocate Abu Yusuf Molla, and Khulna district Chhatrashibir President Yusuf Fakir. Hosted by Moshiur Rahman, among others, Dumuria Upazila Ameer Maulana Moktar Hossain, Upazila Nayeb-e-Ameer Gazi Saifullah, Maulana Habibur Rahman, district Chhatrashibir leader Md. Borhan Uddin, Vice President of Islami Andolan Bangladesh Dumuria branch Mufti Abdus Salam, Secretary of the Hindu Committee Debprosad Mondal, Dumuria Upazila Sramik Kollan Federation General Secretary Md. Mahmudul Alam, Sadar Union President Maulana Mujibur Rahman, Maulana Shafiqul Islam, Principal Golam Haydar, Principal Sheikh Jalal Uddin, Dumuria Upazila town Chhatrashibir President Abu Taher and Western Union President Shamidul Hasan Limon, Dumuria Union Hindu Committee General Secretary Babu Sujid Kumar Bardhan, Dr. Nitya Ranjan Roy, and Maulana Moshior Rahman spoke on the occasion.
Highlighting his record of development while serving as MP, Mia Golam Porwar said, “In 2001, you elected me with your votes. Together with you, I built a terrorism-free Dumuria. I worked on carpeting the Dumuria Mixmill Road, Dumuria Thukra Goffar Road, Dumuria-Sajiara Road, and developed mosques, temples, Eidgah grounds, crematoriums, educational institutions, established Dumuria Women’s Madrasa, and expanded electrification. If you entrust me again with responsibility in the upcoming parliamentary elections, I will try, InshaAllah, to complete the remaining work of this region utilizing my past experience.”
The Secretary General said, “On July 19 at the national rally in Dhaka’s Suhrawardy Udyan, our party chief Dr. Shafiqur Rahman declared jihad against corruption in his speech. In 2001, in the coalition government, we had 16 MPs and 2 ministers. The then army-backed caretaker government of the ‘one-eleven’ regime tried extensively to find corruption among Jamaat leaders. Alhamdulillah, they did not find a single taka’s worth of corruption against any of our MPs or ministers. Therefore, by Allah’s mercy and your love, if Jamaat-e-Islami forms the government, our primary task will be to eliminate corruption and irregularities from this country.”
Later, former MP Mia Golam Porwar visited Khalshi Cadet Scream Madrasa, Lillah Boarding, and Orphanage in Dumuria and exchanged views with teachers and students. Among others present at the time were Madrasa Principal (Muhtamim) Mufti Maulana Saifullah, Deputy Principal Mufti Azizur Rahman, Hafiz Maulana Ashiqur Rahman, Mufti Imran Hossain, Mufti Abu Zor, and Hafiz Maulana Mahmudul Hasan.
