Baliadangi Upazila Jamaat Rukon (Member) conference held

A level playing field must be ensured before the elections, says Maulana Abdul Halim

Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and coordinator of Rangpur-Dinajpur region Maulana Abdul Halim said that the Chief Adviser of the Interim Government has announced that the national election to be held in February of next year. The people of the country expect free, fair, and acceptable elections, and for that a level playing field must be ensured before the election. Otherwise, the election will not be free, fair, and impartial.

He made these remarks while addressing as the chief guest at the Upazila Rukon (Members) conference organized by Baliadangi Upazila Jamaat-e-Islami in Thakurgaon district on Thursday, August 21. The conference was presided over by Upazila Ameer Professor Rafiqul Islam and hosted by District Secretary Shariful Islam. Rangpur-Dinajpur regional team member, and former Thakurgaon district Ameer and Jamaat-nominated candidate for Thakurgaon-2 constituency Maulana Abdul Hakim, District Ameer Professor Belal Uddin Pradhan, and District Secretary Md. Alamgir were present in the conference as the special guests.

Maulana Abdul Halim further said that the persecution against Jamaat-e-Islami began on October 28, 2006, and under the violent attacks with logs and sticks by the Awami League, and people were beaten to death like snakes, marking the beginning of the destruction of democracy. In the 36 days of the people’s movement in 2024, about two thousand people were indiscriminately killed and more than twenty thousand were injured and crippled. On June 5, 2013, Hefazat activists were brutally killed at Dhaka’s Shapla Chattar. None of these killings have yet been brought to justice. After the fall of fascism, the people of the country no longer want to witness a new version of fascism.
