On the evening of Monday, July 28, a grand event was held at the ballroom of Hotel Sheraton Dhaka to mark the 60th Independence Day of the Maldives. The ceremony was hosted by the Honorable High Commissioner of the Maldives in Dhaka, Ms. Shiruneen Rashid. The event was attended by ambassadors, high commissioners, diplomats from various countries, political figures, retired military officials, senior government officers, and prominent members of civil society.
Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former Member of Parliament Professor Mia Golam Porwar participated in the ceremony on behalf of the party.
On this occasion, Professor Mia Golam Porwar handed over a congratulatory message from the Honorable Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, addressed to the Honorable President of the Maldives, Mr. Mohamed Muizzu, through the Honorable High Commissioner Ms. Shiruneen Rashid, on the occasion of Maldives' 60th Independence Day.
It was expressed during the event that the existing fraternal bilateral trade and diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and the Maldives are expected to grow stronger and more meaningful in the days ahead.
