Japanese Ambassador meets Jamaat Ameer at party's central office

On June 22, at 10 am, the Honorable Ambassador of the Embassy of Japan in Dhaka, Mr. Saida Shinichi, held a courtesy call on Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman at the central office of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami. The meeting was held in a very sincere and cordial atmosphere. Matters related to the interests of both countries were discussed in the meeting.

In the meeting, Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman gave a brief description of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami. He also presented the party's position on freedom of speech and religious rights. Describing the political oppression during the dictatorship in Bangladesh, especially the destruction of the electoral system by the fallen Awami League regime. Jamaat Ameer highlighted the farce in the name of elections in 2014, 2018 and 2024. He specifically mentioned the comment made by the former Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh that the 2018 elections in Bangladesh were 'midnight elections'.

At this time, the Ameer-e-Jamaat described the unjust killing of Jamaat-e-Islami leaders in false and fabricated cases in the name of justice and also presented a picture of imprisonment, oppression, torture, and enforced disappearances during the fallen fascist era. He informed him about the fact that Jamaat was most persecuted during the dictatorship.

The Honorable Ambassador of Japan, Mr. Saida Shinichi, thanked Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman and presented his view about the upcoming elections in Bangladesh and the existing relations between Japan and Bangladesh. The Honorable Ambassador expressed his conviction in holding a free, fair and peaceful election in Bangladesh. He expressed hope that bilateral relations with Japan and Bangladesh will be further strengthened in the future.

The meeting was attended by Jamaat-e-Islami's Central Executive Council ATM Azharul Islam, former MP and Jamaat's Nayeb-e-Ameer Dr. Syed Abdullah Mohammad and former MP Maulana Anam Shamsul Islam, Secretary General and former MP Professor Mia Golam Porwar, Central Executive Council Member and Secretary of the Central Publicity and Media Department Adv. Matiur Rahman Akanda, Central Executive Council Member Mubarak Hossain and Foreign Affairs Advisor to the Jamaat Ameer Professor Dr. Mahmudul Hasan.
