Jamaat-e-Islami wants universal unity

-Dr. Syed Abdullah Md. Taher

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's Nayeb-e-Ameer and former MP Dr. Syed Abdullah Md. Taher said that Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami wants universal unity to protect the independence and sovereignty of Bangladesh.

He made this comment while speaking as the chief guest at the Iftar Mahfil organized by the National Doctors Forum (NDF) Rangpur at Checkpost Cafe 66 in Rangpur on Monday (March 17) afternoon.

He also said, we have achieved independence many times. We became independent in 1947 after a 150-year struggle, but we did not get independence. In 1971, we achieved independence at the cost of thousands of lives and blood, but we did not get independence.

We became united again on August 5, and we became independent. We also declared a second independence, but I feel a fear in my heart, will we not get independence again? Because within five to six months, a disagreement and division has arisen among us.

He also said, we united under several slogans to build a prosperous Bangladesh. Today, our goal has changed, each one has joined his own party. Those who need power have gone to power.

Dr. Taher said, the students who gave a new life to the movement have also left their comrades and joined the power struggle today. It seems that none of us are for the country, not for the people, not for morality, not for building a corruption-free Bangladesh. We are only for ourselves.

The program, hosted by Dr. Maruf Hossain, Secretary of the NDF Rangpur Medical Department and chaired by Dr. Md. Atiquzzaman, President of the NDF Rangpur Medical Department, was attended as invited guests by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Central Working Committee Member and Rangpur-Dinajpur Regional Team Member Professor Mahbubur Rahman Belal, Rangpur City Ameer ATM Azam Khan. NDF Secretary General, Professor Dr. Mahmud Hossain, NDF Rangpur Division Vice President Dr. Mohammad Hossain were present as special guests. Doctors of various levels, medical students and other leaders were also present on the occasion.
