Jamaat Ameer at a Massive Rally in Narsingdi

The nation needs another push to build an equal and humane country

-Dr. Shafiqur Rahman

Calling for another push to establish an equitable, just, and humane nation, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman stated that the people of this country do not want a makeshift election. They want a proper election—one that is free and fair. He emphasized that elections should not be influenced by muscle power or black money. If such an election is being planned to be organized, people will initiate another fight against such ill-motives. We understand that this will not come easily. One push was given in July-August 2024, and the nation needs to give another push, he added.

Dr. Shafiqur Rahman made these remarks while addressing a massive public gathering organized by the Narsingdi district Jamaat at the Sataripara Kali Kumar Institution School and College ground in Narsingdi city on Friday afternoon.

The rally, presided over by Narsingdi district Jamaat Ameer Professor Md. Moslehuddeen, featured speeches from central Jamaat leaders, including Assistant Secretary General Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan, Executive Council Member Saiful Alam Khan Milon, Central Working Committee Member A.F.M. Abdus Sattar, Abdul Jabbar, Maulana Abdul Mannan, Advocate Mashiul Alam, and others. The event was conducted by Narsingdi district Jamaat Secretary Maulana Amjad Hossain. District leaders also spoke on the occasion.

Dr. Shafiqur Rahman praised the youth, saying, "I congratulate the young people today—you have achieved the impossible. You are our national heroes. We pray to Allah for those who sacrificed their lives in the battle of '24—may He accept them as martyrs, console their families, grant recovery to the injured, and give us the strength to carry forward the responsibility they have left upon us."

He reiterated, "Elections must take place in Bangladesh, but not just a makeshift election. The people want a real election, a fair election, free from the influence of money and muscle power. He stressed the importance of correcting the voter list to ensure the rightful voting process. We must remove fake voters and exclude the deceased from the list. Young voters whose names have not yet been included must be added.

Dr. Shafiqur Rahman highlighted that during the July-August movement, the entire world stood in solidarity with Bangladesh. Just as we fought inside the country, our brothers abroad also faced imprisonment. They stood with us in this struggle. By stopping remittances, they showed the autocratic regime the red flag. We salute them as well. We want every expatriate brother and sister's voting rights to be ensured," he declared.

He further stated that those in the administration who failed to fulfill their responsibilities, who neglected their duties, and who used bullets purchased with public money against the people, should not be seen in any positions in the future. There is no compromise on this issue. However, honest and patriotic officers within the administration can rest assured that the people of this country will stand by them in their duties, InshaAllah."

Referring to the propaganda against Jamaat-e-Islami, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, "Many false accusations are being spread against us. I ask, are Jamaat-e-Islami members foreigners? No, we were born here, grew up here, and live among you. You are the best judges of our character."

He emphasized, "We want to build a corruption-free, oppression-free, humane Bangladesh where every individual respects one another, where men and women, regardless of their gender, can work safely and with dignity, where everyone can practice their religion without interference. He reassured the people, stating, "As long as Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami stands for justice and patriotism, you will find us engaged in welfare and public service. We seek your love, prayers, and support. If you grant us this, we promise to present to you the humane Bangladesh of your dreams, InshaAllah. Our struggle has not ended; we will continue fighting for freedom, and we will meet again in this battle."

Highlighting the oppressive governance in Bangladesh, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, the two years of misrule under Moinuddin-Fakhruddin and the 15 and a half years of Sheikh Hasina's fascism have been extremely difficult for the people. In these 17 and a half years, countless people have been murdered, abducted, or imprisoned in torture chambers. Many have been injured or left disabled. Innocent individuals have been falsely accused and jailed. Many have lost their jobs, businesses, and homes. The oppression against Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has been particularly severe. Eleven top leaders of Jamaat have been executed under the guise of justice. Some were sentenced to death in mock trials, while others were pushed towards death.

Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, "You have noticed that from the central office of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami to district, sub-district, and even union offices, all have been locked. Jamaat is the only party whose registration has been revoked. It is unfortunate that while fascism has retreated, but we have not yet regained our registration. We are still fighting a legal battle to get it back. This is a shame for Bangladesh.

Our registration was taken away because of our patriotism and refusal to bow down to fascism. With the fall of fascism, our registration should have been reinstated. We demand that the government immediately return our rightful symbol along with our registration. Jamaat has been subjected to oppression, and this oppression must end.

All the leaders who were arrested under false charges have been released one by one. However, it is regrettable that the then Acting Secretary of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, ATM Azharul Islam, has not yet been released. The people demand his immediate release. He is a symbol of the oppressed. One by one, they have killed our greatest leaders, but Allah has kept one of His servants alive. He should be released with honor immediately. If there is any delay in his release, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami will take to the streets with the rightful demands of the people, including the release of ATM Azharul Islam.

This month is the month of the Language Movement. We pay tribute to those who gave their lives in this month. May Allah accept them as martyrs. But what have we seen? 1952 passed, 1971 passed, the country became independent, yet we see that Barkat’s mother is still living in a broken hut. This is a shame for the nation.

Those who looted the people's wealth and smuggled 26 lakh crore (2.6 trillion) taka abroad over the past 15 and a half years do not consider this country their own. They do politics in Bangladesh while sending their wives and children abroad. They have built 'Begum Para' in Canada. They stole the wealth of the Bangladeshi people, yet they used to call others thieves. Sheikh Hasina is the mother of all thieves, and now even she has fled, along with the thieves.

Jamaat Ameer said, every perpetrator of genocide, whether in the country or abroad, must be captured and handed over to the tribunal. The nation wants to see justice. The godmother of these mafia killers was Sheikh Hasina. Under her shelter and patronage, all these killers were nurtured. When we said this before, some people doubted it, thinking it was just political rhetoric. But now, the truth has been revealed to the world. The entire world has learned about their crimes.

We want criminals to be brought to justice, but we also want justice to be done to them. They must not be subjected to injustice. We have suffered oppression, and we understand the pain of oppression. We do not want anyone else to suffer the same. The criminals have built a mountain of crimes, and we believe that if justice prevails, they will be buried under this very mountain. The wealth of the country, whether at home or abroad, must be brought back and deposited in the government treasury. It must be used to facilitate equal development of Bangladesh."
