Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman met with the family members of Martyr Faisal Ahmed Shanto and Martyr Omar Farooq in Chittagong, who have sacrificed lives in the recently held anti-discrimination student movement. He visited the house of Shaheed Faisal Ahmed Shanto in EPZ area of Chittagong and Shaheed Omar Farooq at Tankir Pahar of Chanmari Road in Lalkhan Bazar on Wednesday, 21st August. He inquired about these families and expressed his condolences.
At the end of the meeting, Jamaat Ameer said to the gathered presence that, "Each of your sons were religious, honest, talented and of noble character. Almighty Allah is the decision maker of giving and taking life. There is no chance to stay here forever. We pray to Allah for them. May Allah accepts them as martyrs.
May Allah have mercy on the people of Chittagong. May Allah make Bangladesh free from oppression forever. If necessary, accept us as martyrs for the religion of Allah. Accept those who sacrificed their lives as martyrs. May Allah bless the families of the martyrs. Irrespective of caste, creed and caste, we will build a fair and just Bangladesh together hand in hand, Insha Allah.”
Meanwhile, Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman went to Chittagong Medical College Hospital at 9:30 AM to see the injured of the anti-discrimination movement. He inquired about their treatment and prayed for their recovery. Brigadier General Taslim Uddin, director of the Hospital, was present at this time.
After visiting the hospital, the Jamaat Ameer told the journalists that, “A change finally came to our birthland in return for a lot of blood and sacrifice. May Allah accept the martyrdom of those who have been killed, and facilitate speedy recovery of the injured. We saw a smile on the face of every one of the injured here. All of them are proud to give their blood for the movement. And thanks to the hospital director and the concerned authorities for providing good service to the injured. May the ghosts of dictatorship never come back to the new Bangladesh what we have received in exchange for many sacrifices.
Among others, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Assistant Secretary General Maulana Muhammad Shahjahan, Chittagong City Ameer and former MP Shahjahan Chowdhury, Chittagong city Jamaat Nayeb-e-Ameer Dr. AJM Obaidullah and Muhammad Nazrul Islam, city Secretary Principal Muhammad Nurul Amin, Assistant Secretary Principal Maulana Khairul Bashar, Muhammad Ullah, FM Yunus and Morshedul Islam Chowdhury and other leaders were present during the occasion.
