View exchange meeting held between Jamaat-e-Islami and Labor Party

The accomplices of the fascist Awami League regime and the murderers must be identified and tried

An exchange meeting was held between Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and Bangladesh Labor Party on Tuesday, 20th August 2024. The meeting discussed various prevailing issues including reforms of the State, strong economy, repatriation of laundered money, law and order situation, and trial of the recent massacres.

It is stated in the discussion meeting, the chief adviser of the interim government. Muhammad Yunus told the diplomats in the briefing that he wants to make necessary reforms in the Election Commission, Judiciary, Public Administration, Law and Order Forces and the media prior to the national elections. We welcome this initiative of the interim government. People's confidence should be restored through these reforms. In this regard, we are ready to provide all kinds of support to the interim government.

It has come through various newspaper that the fascist Awami government ran away with a debt of 18 lakh 36 thousand crore takas in their 15 and half year tenure. According to the report of US-based research institute Global Financial Integrity, about 18 lakh crore taka has been smuggled from Bangladesh in the last 15 years. They have looted the entire financial system of the country and turned it into a bottomless basket. To strengthen the country's economy, there is a need to bring back the laundered money and also to ensure accountability and stop corruption in all sectors. Fascism's minions are conspiring to destroy the law-and-order situation. They are trying to destroy the peaceful atmosphere of communal-harmony by attacking the people of different religions. Everyone including the law enforcement agencies should be active to stop these types of plots.

More than 1,000 students were killed in the anti-discrimination student movement. Those who opened fire on the orders of the fascist Awami government must be identified and prosecuted for genocide. Thousands of agitating people are still missing. The real number should be verified following a proper investigation as to where they are and they should be handed over to their families.

I congratulate the students for their sacrifice. They created a free environment. Our overall cooperation and efforts will continue to make this historic victory of the student movement meaningful and to build a beautiful Bangladesh in future.

We do not believe in revenge politics. We do not want to divide the nation. But the criminals must be prosecuted. We should all learn from the fate of Sheikh Hasina.

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, party’s Nayeb-e-Ameer and former MP Professor Mujibur Rahman, Assistant Secretary General Maulana Abdul Halim, Central Executive Council Member and media & publicity Secretary Matiur Rahman Akanda and Central Executive Council Member Mr. Muhammad Mubarak Hossain were present on the occasion.

Abdur Rahman, Office Secretary Md. Miraz Khan, Central Member Md. Mazharul Haque, President of Bangladesh Student Mission Syed Md Milon, General Secretary of Bangladesh Student Mission Md Nazmul Islam Mamun and others were present during the meeting.

Following the program, Jamaat Ameer briefed the journalists where he said that, we sat together and talked about the existing situation in the country and we discussed what we can do in the future as a responsible organization. We do politics for the country. I pray for salvation of the departed souls who have sacrificed their lives in the recent student-general masses movement. May Allah grant them the dignity of martyrdom, and grant their families patience. May Allah bless those who are injured. We have worked together for a long time and will continue to do so. We will move forward with mutual respect and love on the basis of mutual cooperation, inshallah.

Bangladesh Labor Party Chairman Dr. Mostafizur Rahman Iran said, our path with Jamaat-e-Islami is not new. We have worked together for a long time. Jamaat-e-Islami's contribution as the largest Islamic movement organization in Bangladesh is undeniable. The Fascist Awami government has done extreme injustice to Jamaat-e-Islami. For 17 long years, the tyrannical Awami government led by Sheikh Hasina has committed crimes against humanity. All offenders, who were related to enforced disappearances, and murders must be prosecuted. It is our hope that Bangladesh will move forward with the help of the youth community.
