Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former MP Professor Mia Golam Parwar said, "In exchange of innumerable sacrifices and blood, the dictatorial government, which has been subduing the people of the country for 16 years, has finally fallen. It is difficult to calculate how many people this Awami fascist government has killed during its tenure. No family could stand still after seeing the ugliness of the corpse. Thousands of people lost their husbands and children. Jamaat-e-Islami will be with the families of the martyrs and will continue to be there in the future, inshallah. The martyrs of the student’s movement will be our source of inspiration to build a prosperous Bangladesh."
He said these while addressing at a program in which Jamaat-e-Islami Dhaka South City offered condolences and prayers for the martyrs of the student movement and provided financial supports to their victim families. Member of the Central Executive Council and Dhaka South city Ameer Nurul Islam Bulbul presided over the meeting which was hosted by City Secretary and Jamaat’s central working committee member Dr. Shafiqul Islam Masud. Among others, Assistant Secretary General Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan, central Majlish-e-Shura member and Dhaka South City Nayeb-e-Ameer respectively Abdus Sabur Fakir and Advocate Dr. Helal Uddin, central Majlish-e-Shura member and Dhaka South City Assistant Secretary respectively, Delawar Hossain, Muhammad Kamal Hossain and Dr. Abdul Mannan and other leaders were present in the program.
Professor Mia Golam Parwar further said, "Today we have met with the family members of the martyrs. We have no words to console the family members of the martyrs. But it is a relief for us that the trial process of the dictator has started. Today, ordinary people have filed murder cases in the name of Sheikh Hasina and her fascism cronies all over the country. We hope that the bereaved families will get justice. Those who gave their lives for justice were called martyrs by the Prophet (PBUH). In return for their sacrifice, we got a new Bangladesh. May Allah give them good status."
Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan said, "Those who sacrificed their lives to liberate the country and town are our national heroes. Now these martyrs should be declared as heroes by the state. We are making this demand on behalf of Jamaat-e-Islami. We firmly believe that the murderers must be tried in Bangladesh.
Nurul Islam Bulbul said, "Those who have carried out genocide during the students' movement will be tried. The interim government has already started the trial process. We applaud them. A case has been filed also with the international court to try and prosecute Sheikh Hasina along with all her associates. All the killers will be brought to justice gradually.
