Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has said the nation is in deep crisis now. The total country has been turned into a big prison. The opposition has no scope to express themselves. In last 15 years, people have to reside in unsafe situation and here and there. The country is witnessing massive looting and corruption. Not only the market but the whole nation has been entrapped by the syndicate. Thousands of crores of taka are being laundered every day. To get rid of this situation, there is no alternative to broad base unity for establishing citizen’s basic rights.
Jamaat Ameer said this while addressing a discussion and iftar program organized by Sylhet city Jamaat today. The program was arranged in honor of the journalists, professionals, noted professionals and politicians on the eve of the holy month of Ramadan. Jamaat’s central working committee member and Sylhet city Jamaat Ameer Muhammad Fakhrul Islam presided over the program which was hosted by city secretary Shahjahan Ali.
Jamaat-e-Islami’s Assistant Secretary General Ahsanul Mahaboob Zubair and central executive committee member and Dhaka north city Ameer Muhammad Selim Uddin addressed the program as the special guests.
Jamaat Ameer said, no actual election was held on 7th January. Some candidates were brought from different parties in the name of election. Some of them have been declared victorious while rest of the candidates have been thrown away. There is no necessity of spending public money for organizing such a controversial election. They have ruined country’s electoral system totally. The new generation could not cast their votes. They formed a government without votes in 2014. Subsequently they organized another midnight election in 2018 and an election of understanding in 2024.
We have to finalize the future path by extracting lesson from the history. Ignoring our trivial interest, we have to form strong unity. For securing genuine freedom, there is no alternative but forming a Quran-based society. Our activities will continue despite all tortures and repression, he added.
