The government is plotting conspiracies to depoliticize the nation

-Central Executive Committee

A meeting of the central executive committee of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami held with party’s Acting Ameer and former lawmaker Professor Mujibur Rahman in the chair. The meeting expresses concern over the ongoing massive arrest drives and the conviction of the opposition leaders and activists in connection with false and concocted cases.

“Central Executive Committee of Bangladesh is observing with great concern, the lower courts are being operated as per the directives of the government and they are convicting the opposition leaders and activists relentlessly. Ignoring traditional norms and traditions, the courts are working till night and they are convicting the opposition leaders in a hurry even in some occasions without proper hearing, in order to make them ineligible to take part in this election. So far, the courts have convicted more 1200 opposition leaders and activists. The court is holding regular hearing in multiple false cases in a bid to convict and subsequently to make senior Jamaat leaders including Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, Nayeb-e-Ameer Dr. Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher, Secretary General Professor Mia Golam Porwar, Assistant Secretary General Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan and other city leaders unqualified to take part in election. Central executive committee condemns all these repressions in the name of trial.

Central Executive Committee has been further observing that, the fascist government is continuing tortures, repressions and arrest drives against the democratic and peace-loving people.  They have hijacked the constitutionally guaranteed rights of the citizens. The opposition parties are not allowed to hold meeting, rallies and processions. Several over enthusiastic law enforcers are attacking and opening fire at peaceful processions. Hundreds of opposition leaders have been made crippled. Many of them have become the victims of murder and enforced disappearance. Awami League, in its 15-year rules lodged several thousand cases against hundreds of thousands of opposition activists.

The fascist government is verbally talking about democracy and election. But in practice, they do not believe in democracy. They cannot come out of their traditional one-party ruling system. Fascist Prime Minister talked about eliminating BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami. Awami League’s general secretary also warned to root out Jamaat-BNP from the politics of BNP. These kinds of declarations and provocative statements indicate that Awami League is taking the nation toward autocracy. They are behaving recklessly in fear of losing power. The tyrannical activities of Awami League is a bad warning for the nation.

Central executive committee is urging the government to stop torture and oppression, murder and enforced disappearance and to arrange a free, fair and credible election under a caretaker government. Besides, the committee is calling upon the countrymen to launch massive movement against all torture and repressive activities of the government.
