Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's Acting Ameer and former lawmaker Professor Mujibur Rahman has said, for holding a one-party election, the government has destroyed democracy and pushing the nation towards destruction. Besides, to meet the same purpose, the authority is arranging the courts even at night and convicting the opposition leaders and activists. But most of these cases false, concocted and politically motivated.
Urging the intellectual community, he further said that, to make the life a witness for truth, they have to play pivotal roles to preserve and protect democracy and voting rights of the people. Who had taken place in liberation history of Bangladesh, and who had contributed for the welfare of the nation in exchange of their thoughts, inputs and sacrifices, I am praying for them. May Allah reward them all. He called upon the intellectuals, to strengthen the ongoing movement for restoring democracy and voting rights.
He said this while addressing a discussion program organized by Dhaka south city Jamaat on the occasion of Martyr Intellectual Day. Central executive committee member of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and Dhaka south city Jamaat Ameer Nurul Islam Bulbul presided over the meeting which was hosted by Jamaat's central working committee member and Dhaka south city secretary Dr. Shafiqul Islam Masud. Among others, Jamaat’s central executive committee member and party's central media and publicity secretary Advocate Matiur Rahman Akanda and senior journalist and noted intellectual Abul Asad addressed the program. Besides, Dhaka south city Jamaat's Nayeb-e-Ameer Abdus Sabur Fakir and Advocate Dr. Helal Uddin, south city Jamaat's assistant secretary Delwar Hossain and Dr. Abdul Mannan and city Jamaat's working committee members were present on the occasion.
Professor Mujibur Rahman said, real intellectuals work for the betterment of the nation. They oppose tyranny and repression and take stand for justice. But who have become subservient to their desire, are genuine ignorant. The nation was made independent for attaining democracy but Awami League murdered democracy by cancelling the caretaker government system. They want to remain in office by holding farcical elections like 2014 and 2018. At present, opposition leaders and activists cannot stay at their homes. They are being subdued and tortured because of their involvement with the ongoing movement. He urged everyone to play effective roles from individual position to free the country from the rule of the fascist government.
In his address, Advocate Matiur Rahman Akanda raised question that who were responsible for the intellectual murder incidents? Awami League came to the office immediate after the liberation war. But they did not make real investigation and did not prosecute the original killers. Even today, Daily Prothom Alo published report implicating Jamaat leaders with the intellectual murder incidents. But Jamaat leaders were not executed for these incidents. The secular and atheist forces have been making propaganda against Jamaat-e-Islami for more than 50 years in order to humiliate the organization and its leaders in front of the nation. If the information collected by Zahir Raihan is revealed, then the real mystery of the intellectual murder incidents will be disclosed.
Senior journalist and noted intellectual Abul Asad said that the real history of the intellectual murder incidents has not disclosed in last 50 years. The reason of such failure should be assessed and analyzed. The incidents took place just two days before the victory and Dhaka was totally confined in those days and the city was controlled by the freedom fighters. At that time, selected intellectuals were murdered. A probe commission must be formed for reveal the mystery of the intellectual murders in order to bring the real truth in forth and also to stop the blame game.
Nurul Islam Bulbul said, Jamaat’s top leaders have been executed based on false and concocted allegations. They were not involved with the intellectual murder incidents. The intellectuals are not safe in present Bangladesh as well. They do not have freedom to speak out. The voices of the intellectuals have been subdued by enacting black law like Digital Security Act. In last 15 years, many of the valiant sons of the soil have been murdered. The fascist government has abducted many potentials like Barrister Arman, Brigadier General (Rtd.) Arman, student leader Wali Ullah and Mukaddes. So, we have to continue the movement to oust this fascist and tyrant Awami League regime.
