Life and sacrifice of Shaheed Maulana Nizami is a source of inspiration for us

-Maulana Abdul Halim

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Assistant Secretary General and Bogra region’s coordinator Maulana Abdul Halim said, former Jamaat Ameer and Ex-Minister for Industries Maulana Matiur Rahman Nizami has sacrificed his life for the sake of Allah during this regime. He was always active in building prosperous Bangladesh, preserving country’s independence and sovereignty and also to ensure public welfare. The role of Maulana Nizami in all anti-autocratic movement, and restoring democracy and caretaker government system will be remembered always.

He said this while addressing a leadership conference jointly organized by Santhia and Bera Upazila Jamaat-e-Islami today. Pabna district Jamaat’s Assistant Secretary SM Abdullah presided over the meeting which was hosted by Bera Upazila Jamaat Ameer Maulana Ataur Rahman. Among others, Bogra region’s team member Professor Nazrul Islam, Jamaat’s nominee for Pabna-1 (Santhia-Bera) constituency Dr. Abdul Baset Khan, Santhia Upazila Ameer and former Upazila chairman Mokhlesur Rahman, and Chhatrashibir Pabna district East president Kamrul Hasan Limon addressed the program.

Maulana Abdul Halim said, test, trial and tribulations are must for an activist of the Islamic movement. Being the victim of the repression and vengeance of Awami League government, Maulana Nizami and 11 other top leaders and hundreds of activists have sacrificed their lives in last 15 years. Thousands of leaders and activists are still injured and crippled and several thousands have the victims of torture and imprisonment.

He stated that, still Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, Secretary General Professor Mia Golam Porwar, Assistant Secretary General Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan, Dhaka north city Jamaat Ameer Selim Uddin, central organizing secretary Muhaddith Abdul Khaleq and central Majlish-e-Shura member and former MP Shahjahan Chowdhury and many others have been kept behind the bar for many days. Jamaat’s justified movement will never be subdued by such imprisonment and repression. Rather massive movement will be carried based on the active participation of the people to confirm the step down of this government and next election under a caretaker government.

Maulana Abdul Halim put emphasis on strengthening the organization and profound communication with the people. He also urged to expose the massive looting and corruption of the incumbent government. He called upon the leaders to play their duties with courage, wisdom and maturity.
