Stepdown immediately to handover power to the caretaker government for the sake of the nation

-Professor Mujibur Rahman

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Acting Ameer and former lawmaker Professor Mujibur Rahman urged the government to stepdown immediately to hand over power to the caretaker government for the sake of the nation. The countrymen want to witness a meaningful election and to do so a caretaker government is a must. This demand has already become a demand of the general masses.

Acting Ameer said this while addressing a special leadership conference organized by Chittagong city Jamaat-e-Islami on 29th September, Friday. Chittagong city Ameer and Jamaat’s Assistant Secretary General Mohammad Shahjahan presided over the meeting.

He further said that Jamaat activists should be determined to build themselves as per the directives of the Quran and Hadith. Nobody is permanent in this world. We have to collect materials to ensure our abode in Jannah. Graveyard is coming swiftly toward us. We have to be a genuine servant of Almighty Allah to attain success both in this world and the hereafter. To gain such result, the best method is to work for establishing Deen in this world. All Prophets and Messengers had committed these tasks. We have to be on this path by sacrificing our resources and lives. We also have to be by the side of the people.

The activists of the Islamic movement should be courageous. Whoever does not own such courage, his/her faith is weak. The Prophet (peace be upon Him) was the most courageous and as such he had successfully caused the best ever revolution. The Islamic movement workers should not suffer from inferiority complex. Then we will be able to gain success.

Acting Ameer said, the people of Bangladesh are extremely disturbed by the torture and repression of the incumbent government. Not only the leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami, people of all quarters who raised voices for truth have become the victims of the government’s oppression. The whole nation has turned into a bigger prison now. The present government has kept Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman and many others imprisoned. But the pace of the Islamic movement can never be subdued by such tortures, repression and false cases. All political detainees must be released immediately to pave the way for a fair election.

Jamaat’s central executive committee member and Chittagong region’s coordinator Muhammad Abdur Rab said, we have taken oath with a hope to sacrifice our belongings for attaining salvation in the hereafter. The chance of bringing changes in the society does not come frequently. We want to make this change gradually and consequently in a democratic way. Election is the only credible mean to do so. The leadership of Jamaat-e-Islami always consider election as part of its continuous struggle and movement to ensure social changes. Jamaat has taken part in all the previous election upholding the same spirit and achieved success as well. We are taking preparation to participate in the upcoming election after fulfilling the demand of the caretaker government. Jamaat is respectful to the verdict of the people.

Chittagong city Ameer and Jamaat’s Assistant Secretary General Mohammad Shahjahan said, to save the country from ultimate collapse, there is no alternative but launching an all-out movement. He urged the manpower of the movement to remain prepared for the ultimate sacrifice in order to transform Bangladesh as a nation free from torture and repression.

He said, we have to enter into the fold of Islam wholeheartedly. We should ignore all greed, fears and infatuations and have to work hard to earn the satisfaction of Almighty Allah. We have to make relentless efforts to get closer to Almighty Allah.

Among others, Jamaat’s central Majlish-e-Shura member and Chittagong city Jamaat’s Nayeb-e-Ameer Dr. AZM Obaidullah, central Majlish-e-Shura member and Chittagong city Jamaat’s Nayeb-e-Ameer Nazrul Islam and central Majlish-e-Shura member and Chittagong city Jamaat’s Secretary Principal Muhammad Nurul Amin were present on the occasion.
