Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has taken oath as Jamaat Ameer for second term for the session 2023-25

The entire nation is united now about holding election under a non-party government

• Ameer-e-Jamaat takes oath
• Jamaat-e-Islami tries sincerely to establish Deen
• Each and every worker of Jamaat-e-Islami is prepared to make the highest sacrifice for the country
• National election to be held under a non-party neutral caretaker government
• Broadbase and united movement to be launched to press home the demands

For the session 2023-2025, an electoral procedure to elect Jamaat Ameer has been conducted from 5th October to 30th October. With the direct votes of the party members (Rukon), Dr. Shafiqur Rahman was re-elected as the Jamaat Ameer. The oath-taking ceremony began on 18th November, Friday morning in an auditorium of the capital with the recitation of the holy Quran. Jamaat’s central publicity Affairs secretary Matiur Rahman Akanda hosted the program. Jamaat’s chief election commissioner Maulana ATM Masum operated the oath paper reading session for re-elected Jamaat Ameer. During the session, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman became highly emotional. A sentimental environment was created throughout the auditorium at that time. Following the oath, as per the request of Jamaat Ameer, party’s Nayeb-e-Ameer and former MP Professor Mujibur Rahman offered a prayer. Then, Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman conducted the oath of newly elected members of central Majlish-e-Shura for the 2023-2025 session. Finally, Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman delivered a brief address. His address is as follows:

“With due respect and honor, I would like to remember those great souls, based on whose dedication and sacrifice, Bangladesh has emerged as an independent and sovereign country on the global map. I would like to recall those martyrs and wounded victims who had sacrificed their lives to establish democracy, rule of law, justice, human rights, and justice in society. I also would like to remember the architect of independence Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, martyr President Ziaur Rahman, Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani, and the commander in chief of our liberation war, General Ataul Gani Osmani.

With a saddened tone, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, I am remembering language movement hero, former Jamaat Ameer Professor Ghulam Azam, former Ameer and ex-minister Maulana Matiur Rahman Nizami, former Nayeb-e-Ameer Maulana AKM Yousuf and Maulana Abdus Subhan, former Secretary General and ex-minister Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid, former assistant secretary general Shaheed Muhammad Kamaruzzaman and Shaheed Abdul Quader Molla and Shaheed Mir Quasem Ali. We also remember former Nayeb-e-Ameer AKM Nazir Ahmad, who died as a victim of the government’s torture and repression. May Allah accept all of them as martyrs. Ameen.

Jamaat Ameer stated that, with a painful heart, I am remembering world-renowned religious scholar and speaker of the Quran Allama Delawar Hossain Sayedee who is experiencing life-term imprisonment, and other two leaders ATM Azharul Islam and Satkhira district’s popular leader and former MP Abdul Khaleq Mondol, who are also facing death penalties.

I am also urging the concerned authorities to release all detained political leaders, and religious scholars including Jamaat’s Nayeb-e-Ameer and former MP Maulana ANM Shamsul Islam, Secretary General and former MP Professor Mia Golam Porwar, Assistant Secretary General Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan and central Majlish-e-Shura member and former lawmaker Shahjahan Chowdhury.

Jamaat Ameer claimed, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami is a complete Islamic movement. Almighty Allah has sent thousands of Prophets and messengers to establish Islam as the victorious doctrine. Human welfare can never be secured without the beautiful ideology of Islam. Whoever makes this effort, Allah tests him in many ways. We have to be prepared for such tests.

Describing the existing situation, Jamaat Ameer said, Bangladesh is facing a deep crisis now. There is no rule of law, justice, and human rights in the country. Public life and property are not safe anymore. There is no room to express views or to hold meetings and assemblies. People’s voting rights have been lost. The electoral system is totally ruined now.

The prices of the essentials have exceeded all previous records. All utility prices have increased several times. The national economy has been ruined as the authority embezzled a huge amount of money. The nation is moving towards bankruptcy due to corruption, bank looting, capital market scam, destiny and hallmark scandals, reserve fund heists, money laundering, casino, etc.

Unprecedented mismanagement and corruption have destroyed the health sector completely. People are not getting any services. The education system has been ruined as well. The youth is being pushed towards unethical cultures as the authority excluded religious elements from the textbooks. The youth community is terribly suffering due to addiction and cultural aggression.

Political leaders and activists, religious scholars, journalists, authors, academicians, intellectuals, or professionals- no one are safe from the government’s repression. The nation is facing a severe crisis and the only way to rescue the nation is to establish an elected government. To facilitate the process, an election should be arranged immediately under a neutral government. The entire nation is united about the demand of restoring the caretaker government system. I am calling upon my fellow countrymen to launch a massive movement to press this demand.

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has played a historic role in every movement for securing people’s due and justified rights. Earlier, our movements were peaceful and we will continue our struggle to secure people’s rights peacefully in the future, Insha Allah.

Jamaat-e-Islami is fully prepared to make the highest sacrifice for the country. I am seeking doa from my fellow countrymen for Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami. I firmly believe, the incumbent tyrannical government will collapse in the wake of the people’s united movement. People’s voting rights will be established. People will get back their rights.

I am making an open call to the people to play a united role to turn Bangladesh into a peaceful and prosperous country.
