We want to establish a welfare state, says Dr. Shafiqur Rahman

A worker’s conference was arranged in the virtual platform by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Gaibandha district at 9 in the morning on Saturday. District Ameer Md. Abdul Karim presided over the program which was hosted by district Secretary Maulana Jahurul Haq. The conference was inaugurated by Shaheed Nazmus Sakib’s father Dr. Jahidul Islam.

Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman addressed the program as the chief guest. Jamaat’s Assistant Secretary General Maulana Abdul Halim, central Majlish-e-Shura member and former central president of Islami Chhatrashibir Md. Delwar Hossain, Rangpur-Dinajpur region’s team member, and Gaibandha district’s former Ameer Dr. Abdur Rahim Sarkar addressed the program as the special guests. Former district Ameer and Gaibandha-1 constituency’s former lawmaker late Maulana Abdul Aziz’s son Engineer Md. Mofakkharul Islam Rafi also spoke on the occasion.

Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, by the grace of Almighty Allah our former and incumbent leaders and activists had set an outstanding example of hard work and sacrifice. Based on their dedication, Jamaat has climbed up to this position. They were dedicated to the movement. The then Jamaat Ameer and 4 other top leaders had been executed to death in line with a farcical trial. Language movement hero and former Jamaat Ameer and 3 other senior leaders died in the prison cell. The families of the martyr leaders burst into tears during their final journey but the leaders remained steadfirm. Like them, we have to be bold and stronger to establish Deen. We have to nurture the spirit and desire of accepting martyrdom. We work for the satisfaction of Allah. This is why; people love us. But the ruling party does not like our activities. They want to stop us by carrying out torture and repression. But we will not be refrained from doing noble deeds as we have been doing it for the satisfaction of Almighty Allah.

We want to divert people from being servitude towards the service of Allah. We want to establish a welfare state. We have to work for Allah’s path with technique and smartness. No exaggeration should be carried out. We should have the mentality to sacrifice for Islam. A significant number of our brothers have been martyred and many of them also became the victims of enforced disappearance. By Allah’s will, their sacrifice will not go unattended.

Maulana Abdul Halim said, if our desires, wills, and mentality do not match Islam, we will not turn into faithful believers. We have to shape our lives as per the instructions of Islam. We may have a political role in the path of the Islamic movement but our basic identity would be Dayee Ilallah. We should maintain all the basic qualities of a worker and have to fulfill the organizational rights properly.

District Nayeb-e-Ameer and veteran freedom fighter Abdul Wares and Professor Majedur Rahman also addressed the program. District Jamaat’s working committee and Shura council members were also present in the program.
