Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Central Executive Committee member Mubarak Hossain said Sylhet is experiencing the worst ever flood situation. It has caused unbearable suffering, which is very difficult for most of the victims to overcome. We are shocked and saddened by the pains of the Sylhet and Sunamganj residents. Since the beginning of the flood, Jamaat has extended its all-out support to the victims. Dangers or crises appear from Almighty Allah. So, we have to make prayer frequently to Allah. Along with Jamaat, various other organizations and individuals are supporting the victims. However, all this assistance is inadequate. So, we have to come forward to help these flood-affected people.
He said this while visiting the flood-affected areas of Sunamganj and distributing relief in these areas. Jamaat’s Assistant Secretary General Advocate Ahasanul Mahbub Zubayer was present on the occasion as the special guest. Among others, Sunamganj district Ameer Maulana Tofayel Ahmad Khan, Secretary Momtazul Hasan Abed, Nayeb-e-Ameer Advocate Shamsuddin, Chhatrashibir Sunamganj district President Amirul Islam and Secretary Tahmid Ahmed were present at that time.
Meanwhile, Jamaat’s central relief committee hold a meeting with the Sunamganj district Jamaat leaders. The meeting decides to expand the relief distribution activities massively, particularly in remote areas. Jamaat’s district and municipality level leaders also attended the meeting.
Jamaat’s 18-member delegation already arrived in Sunamganj with 5 cargo vessels that contain 4500 food packets, a sufficient amount of water refining tablets, safe drinking water and candles, and other necessary items. Immediate after arrival, they started relief distribution activities.
