After the discussion, the central executive committee has undertaken the following proposals:
Urges to cancel the license of alcohol
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s central executive committee is observing with great concern that, the incumbent government has facilitated a situation to push the country towards anarchy by issuing licenses in favor of alcohol and also by denying the constitution, and religious values, and Islamic doctrines.
Drugs and narcotares is leading people gradually towards death. The crisis with addition became severe in the country. Bangladesh is highly affected by the addiction crisis. According to a non-govenrment organization, right now, 8 million people in the country are addicted. Among the unemployed sections, percent are addicted and 40 percent of these addicts are women. From January 2020 to December of the year 9.8 million pieces of yaba tablets have been seized. According to the reports of various organizations, 2 million yaba are being sold every day across Bangladesh. On average, drugs worth 20 crore taka are being consumed by the addicts. Yearly, around 7 thousand and 3 hundred crore taka is being spent for the purpose of selling and consuming drugs. Around one lac 65 thousand people are doing this business under 200 godfathers and the counting is going on.
A huge number of money is embezzled to another country through drug transmission. The drug crisis has caused severe mental and physical harm and the potential youth’s thinking process is being thwarted due to the addiction the crisis may turn into more chaotic and alarming in the upcoming days.
Under the circumstances, the government has made another blunder. They have issued permission to any over 21 age of people to consume alcohol. The newly approved law also allowed the opening of a bar in a locality if it finds over a hundred consumers. By allowing such addiction, the authority is planning to destroy the ethical standard and Islamic spirit of the people of Bangladesh in a bid to create a critical situation. This decision will take the nation toward destruction and devastation.
Bangladesh is a Muslim majority country where 90 percent of the total population are Muslim and they sincerely try to keep away from alcohol and other addictions. As such the central executive committee of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami is of the view that, according to the constitution, Islam is the state religion of Bangladesh. The government has taken a stance against Islam by defying the constitution and religious sentiment of the people and also by issuing a license to consume alcohol. The countrymen will not accept such a decision and as such the decision must be withdrawn and repelled immediately.
