Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Maqbul Ahmad has issued the following statement on 28th April, 2017 urging to observe International Labour Day on 1st May.
“First May is going to be observed as International Labour Day. The labours and workers of the America’s Chicago city had set a unique example of sacrifice on this day of 1886 in order to secure their rights. Being inspired from that incident, the labour communities around the world have been carrying out movement to ensure their due rights till now. Though the labours and workers have been observing the 1st May as the International Labour Day but their due right is not ensured so far.
This notion is very much clear now that no human made doctrine or ideology can solve the human crisis and problems. Holy Prophet of Islam Hazrat Muhammad (Peace be upon Him) insisted on paying wages to the labour even before his sweat dries. The welfare and benefit of both the labours and the owners are secured within the materialization of such directives of the holy Prophet (Peace be upon Him).
At present, the labours and workers are deprived from their due rights in many ways. The conflict between the owners and the labours become intense in different mills, factories and production sectors. Often the labours take to the street to press their demands but so far their just demands are not fulfilled. We think that the interest of the owners can be preserved and the real salvation of the labour communities can be ensured by introducing Islamic labour law comprehensively.
Finally I am calling upon the working classes and the countrymen to observe International Labour Day on 1st May with due significance and fervour.”
