Acting Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former lawmaker Professor Mujibur Rahman has issued the following statement on 14th August, 2023 expressing deep shock and condolence at the death of Jamaat-e-Islami's Nayeb-e-Ameer, globally acclaimed preacher of the Quran, and former MP Allama Delwar Hossain Sayedee.

We would like to inform you with deep regret that one of the prominent leaders of the world's Islamic movement, world renowned preacher of the Quran, noted religious scholar and Jamaat's Nayeb-e-Ameer Allama Delwar Hossain Sayedee died on 14th August 8:40pm while undergoing treatment in PG hospital of the capital Dhaka. Innalillahi wa inna ilaihi rajiun.

Allama Sayedee has served the holy Quran for more than 50 years. He travelled from one part to another part of the world to spread the message of Quran. Listening to his sermons and lectures, huge number of non-believers have embraced Islam. He also preached Islam in all corners of the country. His contribution to revive Islam and Islamic spirit will be remembered always. He spent his youth and middle age of life for the benefit of Islam and last couple of years of life inside prison.

This noble preacher of Islam have struggled throughout his life to establish Islam. The torture and repression of the government could not deviate him from this ideology and true path. He has become worst victim of injustice as he has been sentenced with life term imprisonment in connection with a false and fabricated case. His death is a great loss for the global Islamic movement. The vacuum which has created due to his demise, will not be fulfilled easily. May Allah bless us to overcome this shortcoming. Ameen.

May Almighty Allah forgive His servant, bless him with bounties and award with a lofty place in Jannah. May Allah accept his death as martyrdom. Ameen.

I am urging the fellow countrymen to face the situation with patience. He has spent 13 years in prison for the Islamic ideology and I am calling upon the countrymen to get involved with that noble ideology to accomplish his unfinished activities. May Allah bless his family, relatives, fans and followers, and colleagues living in home and abroad and give then strength to hold patience. Ameen.
