17 dead in Rajshahi three-way road accident; Jamaat Ameer condoles

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has issued the following message of condolence on 26 March 2021 as at least 17 people have died as a microbus caught fire after head-on collision with a Hanif Paribahan bus in Rajshahi's Katakhali area this afternoon.

At least 17 people have been killed and two others injured in a fire accident resulting in from a three-way collision in Rajshahi’s Katakhali area. The collision took place between a bus, a microbus and a human-hauler at around 1:45pm on Friday. Microbus lost the control and collided on with the human hauler. The cylinder of the microbus exploded upon impact and 17 people killed in the accident. I am expressing deep shock at this tragic accident.

I am also seeking salvations of the departed souls and extending sympathy to the victim families. I am also praying for the quick recovery of the injured. Most of the time, road mishaps take place due to reckless driving and driver’s lack of cautionary preparations. All concerned stakeholders should be aware of such irregularities.

I am also urging the concerned authorities to pay due compensation to the victims and to ensure proper treatment of the injured.
