Muslim Brotherhood leader Essam el-Erian dies in Cairo prison; Jamaat Ameer condoles

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has issued the following message of condolence on August 14, 2020 at the death of Egypt’s ‘Freedom and Justice Party’s senior leader and former parliament member Dr. Essam el- Erian.

In the condolence message, Jamaat Ameer said, Freedom and Justice Party’s senior leader and former parliament member Dr. Essam el- Erian has died in the prison at the age of 66. I am deeply shocked and mourned at his death.

He further stated that Dr. Essam el-Erian was a top leader of `The Freedom & Justice Party and a veteran parliamentarian. He was sentenced with several life sentences following the military coup against Egypt's first democratically elected president Mohamed Morsi. Since the dethrone of the Morsi government, Egypt’s army started crackdown against the leaderships of Muslim Brotherhood. The military forces also oppressed the supporters of the organization. The Egyptian authority has kept more than thousands of leaders and supporters behind the bar for years. Hundreds of activists had been killed as well.

Dr. Essam el-Erian had been tortured inside the prison and finally he died without getting proper treatment. He struggled throughout his life for establishing Islamic rules in Egypt. May Allah accept all his noble deeds to bless him with Jannah. May Allah also help his mournful families, relatives and followers to pass the situation with patience. Ameen.
