Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has issued the following message of condolence on 5 August 2020 as at least 17 teachers and studentds drowned as a trawler capsized in a haor in Madan upazila of Netrakona this noon.

“The teachers and students of a Madrasa of Mymensingh city went to the Gobindasree Haor in Madan Upazila of the neighboring district of Netrokona. The boat sank in haor around 12 pm. On information, divers of fire service and civil defence rushed to the spot and recovered 17 bodies. Two students are still missing. I am expressing deep shock for the tragic death of these teachers and students. I am praying to Allah seeking Jannah for all of them and extending sympathy to their mournful families.

The law enforcers and the concerned agencies should be more vigilant and careful during the ongoing Eid season. I am also urging all quarters to be aware and cautious to avoid such tragic mishap in future.
