Legendary fighter pilot Saiful Azam dies; Jamaat Ameer condoles

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has issued the following message of condolence on 15 June 2020 at the death of legendary fighter pilot Saiful Azam.

“Former Chairman of Bangladesh Civil Aviation Authority and former MP Saiful Azam has died in Combined Military Hospital (CMH) on last 14th June. He has upgraded the position and status of Bangladesh as fighter pilot. Azam is the unique air force figure in the history of Bangladesh who took part in wars as a fighter pilot of three different countries - Jordan, Iraq and Pakistan. As a Bangladeshi-origin, he is the only fighter pilot who downed four Israeli aircrafts during the 1967 Arab-Israel war. This is also a world record. The US government awarded him as one of the world's 22 “Living Eagles” for his outstanding war skills and courage. He served Bangladesh as the Chairman of Bangladesh Civil Aviation Authority from 1982-84 and 1987-88. I am deeply saddened at this death. May Allah accept all his noble deeds to bless him with Jannah.

I am also praying for his mournful family. May Allah help them to hold patience in this painful period.
