Jamaat activists arrested from Bogra and Nilphamari; Rafiqul Islam Khan protests

Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan has issued the following statement on 5th December, 2016 protesting the unjust arrest of Bogra district’s Dupchanchia Upazila Ameer Monsur Ali on 4th December and similar unjustifiable arrest of Nilphamari district’s Joldhaka Upazila Jamaat Ameer Sader Hossen, Upazila Jamaat’s working committee member Kamaruzzaman, Joldhaka Sadar Union Jamaat Ameer Rashedul Islam, Maulana Jamiar Rahman and Maulana Akbar Ali by the law enforcers on 5th December morning.

“Police has arrested the Jamaat leaders and activists from Dupchanchia and Joldhaka in order to harass them politically. The government is unlawfully detaining the leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami across the country. Many party activists cannot reside in their houses even. The countrymen are in fear and panic due to oppression and autocratic rule of the government. I am urging the countrymen to raise voice against the misrule of the government.

I am urging the authorities concerned to release all the detained leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami including Bogra district’s Dupchanchia Upazila Ameer Monsur Ali and Nilphamari district’s Joldhaka Upazila Jamaat Ameer Sader Hossen immediately.”
