Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Assistant Secretary General and Head of the Central Publicity and Media Department, Advocate Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair issued a statement today, 29 September condemning and protesting the false and fabricated report published in the Daily Inqilab by misinterpreting the speech of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Nayeb-e-Ameer, and former MP Dr. Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher.
In the statement, he said: “On 27 September, at a reception program held in New York, USA, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's Nayeb-e-Ameer Dr. Syed Abdullah Muhammad Taher delivered a speech which has been distorted by the Daily Inqilab. On 29 September, the paper published a false report on its front page under the headline ‘Jamaat wants India’s attack on Bangladesh’. The entire report is baseless and fabricated, nothing but a deliberate attempt to tarnish the image of Jamaat-e-Islami and Dr. Syed Abdullah Muhammad Taher. I strongly condemn and protest this concocted report.
He further said: The people of this country are aware that India’s BSF is regularly killing Bangladeshi citizens at the border and forcibly pushing Indian nationals into Bangladesh. The ousted fascist Sheikh Hasina and her accomplice terrorists, while taking shelter in India, are making provocative and warlike statements against Bangladesh and Indian authorities are aware of it. There is no scope to distort such statements and impose a different meaning.
He said, the allegation quoting Mr. Zahed Ur Rahman that in a meeting with Indian researcher Sreeradha Datta, Jamaat was labeled as a pro-India party is completely false and fabricated. Similarly, the claim published in Daily Inqilab that Dr. Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher said, ‘If Jamaat comes to power, it will never implement Sharia law’ is also totally untrue. He never made such a remark.
He further said: As a national daily, it is extremely regrettable that Daily Inqilab has published such an imaginary and intentioal report. By publishing such fabricated news, the people of the country cannot be misled. On the contrary, it will only destroy the credibility of the Daily Inqilab. I call upon the Inqilab authorities to refrain from publishing such news, and I hope they will publish this protest in the proper place to remove the confusion created.”
