Jamaat-e-Islami respects the community of Islamic scholars, and consider them as the guides of the Muslim Ummah, states Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair

Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and Head of the Central Publicity and Media Department Advocate Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair issued a statement today, 30 September protesting against the allegation of placing the responsibility of a recent statement by Maulana Tarek Monowar on Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami.

In his statement, he said: “A few days ago, Maulana Tarek Monowar made some remarks involving Darse Nezami scholars in a private discussion arranged on the occasion of the Siratun Nabi (peace and blessings be upon him) gathering. Those remarks are entirely his own; which has no connection whatsoever with Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami. He has already apologized for those comments. Nevertheless, the attempt to impose the responsibility of his remarks upon Jamaat-e-Islami is regrettable and unwarranted.”

He further said: “Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has always shown deep respect toward the community of Islamic scholars. We honor them as the guides of the Muslim Ummah. For generations, they have been providing the nation with proper guidance and spreading the light of Islam. Jamaat-e-Islami has never taken any position that would undermine their dignity. Therefore, there is no scope to make Jamaat-e-Islami controversial on this matter.”
