Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Secretary General and former MP Professor Mia Golam Porwar issued the following statement on March 12 strongly condemning and protesting the publication of baseless false information involving Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatrashibir in the report titled (পরিবর্তনের রাজনীতি কতদূর) ‘How far is the politics of change?’ published on the first page of the Daily Inqilab newspaper.
“I strongly condemn and protest the publication of baseless false information involving Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatrashibir in the report titled ‘(পরিবর্তনের রাজনীতি কতদূর) ‘How far is the politics of change? published on the first page of the Daily Inqilab newspaper. There is not a minimum truth in this report and it is totally baseless and false. The report has raised an allegation against Jamaat about taking control of banks, insurance companies and collecting money from Hasina’s oligarch Bashundhara.
Our clear statement is this regard is, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has never seized any bank, insurance company and Jamaat-e-Islami has no relation with Bashundhara Group. Therefore, there is no question of taking money from them. With the ill-intention of tarnishing the image of Jamaat, a vested group is trying to mislead the people by spreading such baseless false propaganda against Jamaat-e-Islami. It is unthinkable for those who have a minimum sense of journalistic ethics to publish such baseless and unbelievable reports.
The accusations made in the report of Daily Inqilab against Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatrashibir are nothing but blatant lies and it is absolutely politically motivated. The people of the country can never be misled due to such false propaganda.
Therefore, I call upon the authorities of Dainik Inqilab to refrain from spreading baseless false propaganda against Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatrashibir and hope that they will publish this protest statement in the right place and minimise the mass confusion.”
