ATM Azharul Islam demands proper justice over the murder of retired Principal and freedom fighter Jogesh Chandra Roy and his wife

On 7 December, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Nayeb-e-Ameer ATM Azharul Islam expressed deep sorrow and expected proper justice over the killing of retired principal and valiant freedom fighter Jogesh Chandra Roy and his wife in Taraganj upazila of Rangpur.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Nayeb-e-Ameer said he was deeply shocked by the murder of Jogesh Chandra Roy, a retired principal and freedom fighter from his constituency in Taraganj upazila, and his wife Suborna Roy.

He expressed hope for appropriate legal measures and fair justice in this incident. He further conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family members.

Immediately after the incident, on Sunday, ATM Azharul Islam visited the residence of the victims, met with the grieving family members, expressed his condolences and offered comfort. He spent some time there, spoke with the son of the deceased, and inquired about his condition.

At that time, he also talked to the senior police officials who were inspecting the crime scene, and inquired about the progress of the legal procedures and investigation regarding the murder. He urged that justice be ensured in the quickest possible time.

It is to be noted that, according to local media reports, retired principal and freedom fighter Jogesh Chandra Roy (75) of Rahimapur Khiarpara village in Kursha Union of Taraganj upazila in Rangpur, and his wife Suborna Roy (60), were brutally killed by miscreants who slit their throats. This tragic incident occurred at their own home late Saturday night.

Freedom fighter Jogesh Chandra Roy was the retired principal of Rahimapur Noyahat Muktijoddha Government Primary School in the area.
