Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan condemns and protests the baseless and false remark of Ruhul Kabir Rizvi

Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan issued the following statement on February 25 strongly condemning and protesting the baseless and false remark of BNP's senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.

“I strongly condemn and protest the baseless anf false remark of BNP's senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, at a program organized in front of the BNP central office on February 24, that ‘Jamaat has tried to stab BNP in the back whenever it gets the opportunity.’

There is not even a shred of truth in his remark. His remark is unfair, unintended and undesirable. Furthermore, his remark applies to BNP; not to Jamaat-e-Islami.

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami brought BNP to power in 1991 by extending unconditional support. In return, they did not return Professor Ghulam Azam's citizenship when they came to power, but instead they unjustly arrested him and kept him behind the bar for 16 months. Again in 1981, Jamaat-e-Islami had supported BNP's presidential candidate Justice Abdus Sattar and elected him to power. But he also did not return Professor Ghulam Azam's citizenship. All these examples are known to the countrymen. Therefore, BNP leader Ruhul Kabir Rizvi will not be able to mislead the countrymen by making baseless and false remarks.

Therefore, I urge BNP leader Mr. Ruhul Karib Rizvi to refrain from making baseless and false statements against Jamaat-e-Islami, in order to save about his own honor and dignity.
