Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Acting Ameer and former member of parliament Professor Mujibur Rahman issued the following message of condolence on 8th March 2023 expressing deep shock as 18 people were killed and a hundred others injured in a massive blast at a building in Siddiq Bazar of Gulistan area.

At least 18 people were killed and more than 100 injured in an explosion at a building in Dhaka's Gulistan area on the 7th of March afternoon. Most of the injured are very critical. The severity of the explosion is so huge that the entire surrounding area became a standstill within moments. The passerby, passengers, and the people of the adjacent areas became injured in this explosion.

I am expressing deep shock for the deceased who have been killed in this explosion. I am extending sympathy to their mournful families. May Allah accept all the deceased as martyrs. I am also praying for the quick recovery of the injured who are undergoing treatment in various hospitals in the cities.

I am urging the concerned authorities to investigate the incident and take due steps. Besides, I am calling upon the authorities to pay due compensation to the victim’s families and also to ensure proper treatment of the injured.
