Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has issued the following statement on 1st April, 2022 urging to preserve and protect the sanctity of the holy month of Ramadan and also to ensure the functionality of the state, society, and individual lives based on the spirit of Taqwa.
“Amid the ongoing global crisis, the holy month of Ramadan has appeared before us with the sermon of mercy, bounties, blessing, and forgiveness. The blessed Prophet (peace and blessings be upon Him) said, “Ramadan is the month, whose beginning is mercy, its middle, forgiveness and its end, emancipation from the fire (of hell). There is a holy and absolutely blessed night called Lailatul Qadr in the last 10 days of Ramadan, which is better than thousand months. If one obligatory task is being committed during this month, it is tantamount to 70 obligatory acts. While the reward of an additional good deed is equal to an obligatory task. This is the month of Taqwa and mutual sympathy and empathy.
In recent times, the law and order situation has deteriorated in the capital Dhaka and other parts of the country. People are becoming victims of murder, hijacking, robbery, and stealing. People’s sufferings know no bounds due to the massive hike of the essentials. People are making long queues to take commodities from the TCB trucks. The low-income people are leading miserable life. Many people are passing days in starving. I am urging the affluent corners of society to take the side of these helpless and needy people.
Ramadan is the holy month when the holy Quran was revealed. This is the month of Badr war and this is the blessed month when Allah gives people the great victory of Makkah. The rights and opportunities of this month can be met by taking the decision to read the holy Quran widely and also to shape our personal, family, and national lives according to the message of this divine book. Allah makes Ramadan mandatory for us for building our minds in a way so that we can seek guidance from the holy Quran. I am urging everybody to make the highest efforts for fulfilling the rights of this month properly and sincerely.
The entire world is suffering now as they deny to obey the rules and directives of Almighty Allah. All types of misdeeds like nudity, indecency, vulgarism, bribery, interest, corruption, exploitation, torture against women and children, and crimes against humanity are on the rise. The government has taken a stance against Islam by issuing licenses in favor of alcohol. They also paved the way for spreading nudity and indecency in society.
I am urging the concerned authorities to preserve and protect the sanctity of Ramadan, to curb the price hike of the essentials, and to stop nudity and vulgarism in society. We are asking the government to prevent all these misdeeds. Besides, we are calling upon them to improve the law and order and to ensure the security of lives and wealth of the people.”
