Acting Secretary General urges to hold demonstration on 5th January marking ‘Democracy Killing Day’

Acting Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Maulana ATM Masum has issued the following statement on 4th January, 2018 urging all the front organizations of Jamaat-e-Islami and the countrymen to hold the pre-declared nationwide peaceful demonstration on 5th January marking ‘Democracy Killing Day.’

“The incumbent authoritarian government has murdered democracy by staging voter less farcical election on 5th January of 2014. Killing the democratic trend of the country, they grabbed the state office by dint of force and imposed an unbearable misrule upon the nation.

The present government seized the voting rights of the people and murdered democracy brutally. By doing so, they have concealed all the ways to alter the government through electoral process. The government also snatched the rule of law, justice and human rights away and turned the entire nation into a gigantic prison. To get rid of this situation and to restore the democratic trends, there is no alternative but forming a national unity.

In order to bring back democracy, on behalf of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, I am urging all the front organizations of the party and the countrymen to hold the pre-declared nationwide peaceful demonstration program on 5th January to mark the ‘Democracy Killing Day.’
