For the upcoming election, greater compromise, understanding, and unity are needed within the major political parties, views Dr. Taher

By the grace of Almighty Allah, today, Monday 1 December, at 2 PM, after receiving treatment at United Hospital in Gulshan, Jamaat-e-Islami’s Nayeb-e-Ameer and former MP Dr. Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher returned home.

At that time, he told the journalists present at the hospital gate: “By the grace of Allah, I am coming out today to go home in a much healthier condition. Through you, the people of the country have already received the news and have prayed for me in various ways—offered prayers, kept fasts, and supplications were made for me at the holy Kaaba. I express my sincere gratitude to everyone.”

He further said, “The world-renowned cardiologist Mr. Moniruzzaman and his team were examining me. My blockage had become as hard as stone. Naturally, placing a stent was difficult. A medical board was formed immediately consisting of Dr. Moniruzzaman, Dr. Jahangir Kabir, and a professor of nephrology. They became divided on whether they should perform open-heart surgery or send me to Singapore. But we said: I will do the stent here. Alhamdulillah, the stenting of the blockage went well, and I am now feeling better.”

He said, “Today, with deep sorrow, anxiety, and emotion, I am praying to Allah for the recovery of the beloved leader of all the people of Bangladesh, Begum Khaleda Zia. I can personally testify that Begum Zia has always been a truly patriotic leader and a democratic leader. In the past 15 years, the way the country drifted under Indian dominance—it could have happened much earlier. But because of her steadfastness, that did not happen.”

He further said, “Today she is not only a leader of one party—she is the leader of all the people of the country. We have emotional attachment and love for her. I personally express deep respect to her and pray for her recovery. On behalf of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, we have already organized many programs praying for her recovery. Once again, on behalf of Jamaat-e-Islami, I pray to Allah for her wellbeing.”

He said, “In today’s condition of the country, regarding national politics and the upcoming election, much greater understanding is required within the major parties. You will code this. I repeat again: in the current context of Bangladesh, for the upcoming politics of Bangladesh and for the upcoming election, much greater compromise, understanding, and principled unity are needed within the major political parties. I call upon the citizens of the country and all political parties: in the days ahead, let us determine our duties with greater patience and wisdom, giving priority to the country. May Allah grant us all success. Ameen.”
